Very nice review, but when watching this video my low point was the person reviewing the kit.

There were several places where he stumbled on definitions of parts. That being said, I still like to get one of the Sherbourne kit some day.
I truly believe I can do her true justice. And being presented in the new lawyer bookcase that the Admiral and I will pick up in a month.
Chris, one day my order will drop into your box.

Your kit is the one of the last in the series released 1977.

Aurora and Heller had a joint venture between 1972 and 1977. 
The kit you have is a rare one. That's why you had a little hard time to find information and no I couldn't find any videos either.
There is/was an unopen box at auction in pristine condition a while back.
Don't know the outcome of it.

Again I could be wrong, but looking at the "distance" to the other ships in the foreground she must be a huge one.

I wonder about that "picture"/painting..... it looks altered to me, the rendering doesn't match the overall picture.
I might be wrong.

I am using a unit which can be found craft stores.

This one will do the poly/cotton combination and create a nice cut, but also to be used as a thread sealer.

Laser cut cushions? Well, that is new..... not even the extreme modern yachts has that....😁

So far I've just been testing on scrap wood to try and get the color/finish combination I want and the finish is almost harder to get right than the color. I think I've found a yellow I like and hopefully the gloss additive will work on it as well even though it's not Vallejo. If you're curious, here's the color I picked for Victory Yellow: Victory Yellow, The samples I've done have turned out a tiny bit darker than the sample on my monitor but I think it's going to work.

 

Any thoughts or tips on adjusting the finish gloss/satin/matte on acrylic model paint would be greatly appreciated.

Jonathan, I have using Vallejo paint for almost 15 years.
I am very pleased with their paint both regular but specially AV (for airbrushing)
And they do have two different gloss black, if you use a black primer the glossy with really come out.

Best is to apply a surface preparation before applying primer. 
Has buscado gloss black - Acrylicos Vallejo.

I also like the Gunboat Adder, I hope you didn't upload the plans without altercations because these would otherwise be easy to use from a Chinese perspective.

Wyapa, just an hour and a half drive south along I-5 corridor there another Washingtonian Welcoming you to MSW.

Start simple, if you look at BlueJacket Inc's website you will find some solid hull kits to work with.

That way you can only have to shape the hull and get going with details.
Many kits involve planking a skeleton frame. Some have issues with that some don't.
Start small and finish what you started before settling on another kit.

A friend of mine built this model long time ago, (back in the 70's) and he was young. This model was way above his skill level.
