    John, I just finished reading your build log and you have done really good recovery of the build. I understand the feeling of having a model or two just waiting to be continued, looking good and I like your work set up with the windows. Here is one suggestion regarding the stand and the brass rod. I did use brass rod and brass tube for my longboat. The rod was inserted in drilled holes in the boat and the tube on the stand. Take a look at my finished boat in the gallery below. All the best to you.

I would suggest Sherbourne from Vanguard for two reason, good customer service but also you can download the manual prior buying the kit. This way you will have some pre-knowledge of what you are getting into. The kits of Mr. Watton are at very high quality. Polaris is at a good starting level as well. And does have instructional videos on their website. If I were in your shoes I would go for Sherbourne. However that is my opinion. Good luck with your choice because they are both good. Hälsningar

    Eric, I just found your Black Hawk kit, it has a reasonable price. A half hull kit where the frames are done! I like it, it should be a fairly quick build. Check this one out.

    I have to admit I have been in the same seat as well, handed down three RC yachts worth more than 5000 dollars plus several wood kits.

    Eric, you certainly have done a good catch! I took the liberty of a rough calculation of the total cost for the kits, which is USD 1177 to 1452, based whether if America is the 1/8 scale (lower price) or the 1/4 scale (higher price). I couldn't find any price information for the SH04 Hannah nor the North Eastern Black Hawk half hull. The 50 books have a great value as well.

    As the 1200 dollar unit it is still another 8 days until last day. Will be interesting to see the final cost. Bought mine via our sell and buy section with alot of accessories, and only 80 dollars shipping. This only three years ago.

    No plastic model is perfect, even with the latest technology. Toni, I bow my head to you for overcoming these issues. Getting paint correct is another problem all of us are having hard time with.
