3D printing material question
Nirvana replied to CPDDET's topic in CAD and 3D Modelling/Drafting Plans with Software
As Srenner wrote about the nano particles, that will be one of the critical number to look at. Resin is brittle but does provide very good detailing that regular filament printing can't do. Another aspect the higher (quality) cost of a printer the better details. I, myself is looking into purchasing a resin printer as an addition to my filament printer. -
Take the CD to someone who has a drive. It should contained a printable file. You should be able to print out the instructions at a printing. Good luck

Nirvana replied to palmerit's topic in Modeling tools and Workshop Equipment
I just placed an order of these scissors, shouldn't take long to get them as manufacturing is done in Idaho. -
Pin vise recommendations
Nirvana replied to kgstakes's topic in Modeling tools and Workshop Equipment
Here is another site to look at. More expensive but the quality is outstanding. Starrett Pin Vise set. -
Brian, I just finished reading your build log. I am impressed with your patience and determination. You did a great job with all the rolling of paper. Coming to an end and leaning back and saying "I did it" is always a good feeling.

Mark, you can edit the title if you want to, otherwise let one of the moderators know what you like in the title, and we can change it. Just double click the title and you can edit it. -
Finish all planking and sanding before any varnish, otherwise you might have issues with adhering.

Andrew, I would recommend you to use epoxy for the second hull planking. Epoxy creates a watertight seal then sand the second layer make it super smooth then apply your varnish. Sand inbetween sessions. That should do some of the sealing, also I would recommend to epoxy the inside of the hull. Use WestMarine 105 and 205 and silica powder. Btw, nice progress. Good luck.

The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
