Very nice and precise work here - the addition of the masts really makes her come alive.

Thanks for stopping by, Nils. :)

Well, Pickle is my first wooden ship after many many years. I think it's better builing her out of the box without sails.

Hamilton, thank you very much for the nice comment.

Cheers, Richard.

Maybe it‘s very helpful using brass wire to keep the parts in place when fixing the parrels.

Looking good Richard, good idea to paint the masts yellow, wish I did the same on my pickle rather than the walnut stain they reccomend. Same with painting the carronades red. looks neater and more even

Cheers,

At last the ship's boats have been completed. Believe me, it was a real challenge.

First of all the boat's resin hulls should have been sanded. Otherwise you can have big problems when glueing the cartridge paper for the ribs into the hull. My big awareness... :o

post-443-0-21705600-1377191702_thumb.jpg

But the rest was quite easy.

Well, the lauch is very tall and I'll don't fit it until the rigging has been completed.

Richard, your boats look great.  Its funny, I had exactly the same experience even after sanding the hull.  I've ordered some styrene to do what the paper should because I was also thinking the paper may not have enough body to simulate the frames.  You made a very nice job of it however and I'm reconsidering my approach I'm curious what your thoughts are on the merits either way.

The ship's boats look amazing - it must have been very tricky using the paper for the ribs! I just finished a ship's boat at 1:100 and used 1/16 x 1/16 lime sanded down after installation to 1/32...this was fiddly enough - I can't imagine using the paper to the same high quality result you've obtained!

Thank you very much for your kind words Bill, Pete, Ferit, Jason and Hamilton. :)

Jason I think styrene is a good alternative to simulate wooden frames.
By the way I didn‘t use the provided paper. I‘ve bought a sheet of black cardboard with a higher paper weight and used it instead.

Hamilton I‘m very happy with the result and all the rest is hidden by the colour. ;)

So thanks again, guys.

Cheers, Richard.

I left the larger one off my build because I couldn't for the life of me see how they could manhandle it on and off of Pickle between the rigging.

they look good insitu tho' :)

B.E.

No way! After all the work my Pickle sails with two boats. ;)

I‘ve made a little modification on the fore yard stirrups. They are not made from brass wire but the same black thread I used for the footropes.

Thank you very much for your nice comments, Bill, ZyXuz, Jeff and Hamilton. Much appreciated. :)

The thread I‘ve used for the stirrups is out of the box. It‘s stiff enough.
Jeff, have fun with the renovations. ;)
