spent the day on the derrick mast, made a fantastic job on it, paint looked great, solder work tidy, fitted the navigation lights all winch gear and siren

went to fit the ladder, to short, look for another, there isnt another, look at plans 170mm mine is 170mm, checked it all again

checked instructions, for what there worth, 170mm minus 40mm

i redid the derrick mast, 40mm to long was something that was going to look a bit stoopid, one on the right is the correct length

good evening everyone

after deck awning stanchion

the instructions, say 40mm bend 5mm and hammer flat the last 2mm and drill  1mm hole in the flat bit x 12

must be a better way, so i took 35mm bend 5 and added a pintle on the end by soldering x 12, these will be added to the build this week, lol i see so many snag hazards later on with the rigging, im going to curse this so very much

IMG_9408.thumb.JPG.3cb060127e7da70a946af4be3a7a3186.JPGIMG_9413.thumb.JPG.531270f73cc46b44dc137c8daeb2f94b.JPGIMG_9414.thumb.JPG.bdbb2e816acfb543295c0926b535bf44.JPG

i dont know what these look out posts are called, but again i have replaced gluing with soldering, there is not a lot of room for them, i will have to shorten the hand rail by a couple of mmIMG_9416.thumb.JPG.7b69fcaf982970e06aa7f21f43213cfc.JPGIMG_9419.thumb.JPG.d5044284c9953d708960d00ace3af9e6.JPGIMG_9423.thumb.JPG.bb054bc1f22c19f56c3dfb59849bfffc.JPGIMG_9426.thumb.JPG.30ac6870305e37ff924638065a0262e0.JPGIMG_9428.thumb.JPG.254f9f63ad88f60fec06c364fa206ac0.JPG

Amerigo first , but the list at present is down to three, a nice big scale clipper, not found one yet

the ferry Norland/Norstar by linkspan Linkspan Models

but really fancy the Carrier Hermes, by Sirmar but just might be far to much scratch for me, plus the problem with me building aircraft,

HMS Hermes (sirmarfittings.com)

and as you all know i might change my mind again

Hermes was a gorgeous ship  pre/post  Falklands with ski ramp,   I missed seeing her at Pompy a few times when I was down there either for the Navy Days or Training with the Navy  (told you about that)   and at nearly 8 feet long  wow would she be a Stunner.

good evening everyone

well thats the awning stanchions and the lower part of the davits now in place, not much of an update, but someone might be interested

the awnings were made up in post 77, and were fitted directly into the hull and a bracket

the davits are one piece with inserted into a collet, then drilled and 1mm wire inserted, this again is inserted into the hull and with another bracket,

stbd side tomorrow

good evening everyone

on the stern, all the awnings are in place along with the lower part of the davits, each time i look at others builds i see more detail to be added

Midships is now getting the attention, another set of stairwells, and hatch ways are now in place

the Kit 8 arrived today for the masts, i bought it as the replacement parts i wanted came far more expensive and not all available

Mike
