No, antelope is very sweet tasting. I have had  venison but did not care for it much.  My sister in Colorado used to make Bison burgers, one of her boys had a severe food allergy and could only eat game meat. Which she was able to get with a special permit  through the Fish and Game dept for cost of packaging. 

 

This was some 40 years ago, so my memory is a tad vague.

I've been able eat most of those same  beasts. In Thailand, the on-base restaurant used to tell us they were serving Kobe beef steaks, a real delicacy.   My frontseater and I figured it was really water buffalo, since the price was pretty  reasonable. And the water buffaloes were all over the place.

Hmm! I see by the duty roster that Lou has KP duty now.  Oh Lou ! How about rustling up some grub for this crew. Maybe some of those Dungeness Crabs you guys are so famous for. I hear they are better tasting than Maryland Blue Crabs, which I get every time I visit my daughter in Maryland.

I get to at least choose my hours and KP duty is the last thing I do before going to bed! To be honest, like the dog walking it is self inflicted. Both activities tend to cause me back pain, especially the dishes, so I kind of use them to perform a kind of exercise. I think they may be working as i am able to do all of the dishes in one standing without having to sit for a few minutes and the walks are getting longer and a little easier. But my wife is very happy that I am doing these, (and a few other chores) and has not once offered, "Oh I will give you a break and do it today for you."

 

As for Dungeness Crab, they are everything they are reported to be. I can't compare them to Blue Crabs as I have never had Maryland Blue Crab. Back in the dark ages before COVID we had something called restaurants where you could order a plater of Dungeness Crab legs that would be stacked up over 12" deep! Pretty much pure decadent eating using nothing more than your fingers and a shell cracker. Just as messy as eating ribs at a summer barbeque. Bibs are included.

 

I have had Buffalo, (Bison), Deer, Elk, and Black Bear, but never Antelope or Water Buffalo, (At least to my knowledge). I MAY have had cat or dog I don't know. It was our version of "Don't ask, don't tell" when overseas.

In my business career I made numerous trips to China, both Taiwan and the Mainland and the Chinese traditionally like to host a lavish banquet for their visitors.  They served lots of exotic dishes, sea slugs, donkey, and snake; it actually did taste liken chicken.  In most cases I figured that if it didn’t kill them, it wouldn’t kill me and ate at least some of what they served.  

 

I had had to pass on a plate of whole grilled sparrows; served with heads, beaks, legs, and feet.  They put the whole thing in their mouth and spit out the bones.

This is nothing. So far we are missing those guys from the gulf states where everything they eat seems to either taste like gravel, or makes you pay twice, once going down and again coming out! I think they would eat pond scum if you put enough spices in it!😭😝

Tom, you're correct. It would be "This is No Sh**. The abbreviation TINS  is a column header from our quarterly magazine, "Mig Sweep". That's where we can relate well-scrubbed stories from Nam and Desert Storm.

I've had both.... I'll take either one as they both are yummy.

I like them all, especially if they have chocolate and Raspberry inside! But I think I like the Osprey and Phantom the best. It would almost be a shame to eat the Galleon
