Are these custom made tools? Standard tools adapted to a new purpose? Specialty tools made for this application?

What is it?   How is it used?

It looks like a jig for making rope coils.   Unless I'm wrong, You catch the end between "B" and "C".  Secure with "A" then wrap the coils around "C".  The separate parts shown look to be a variable for different size rope and coils.  Pretty ingenious to my eyes and probably wouldn't be all that hard to make.

I figured it was some sort of jig and I guess I can see what you're describing.   Thanks for deciphering that for me ;)

There are some guys here into tool-making, but he beats us all. And, he must have somewhere a second life to spare, for all the time he spends on the tools ;)

He must enjoy it and get great satisfaction from doing this. I enjoy making jigs and tools and I do my best to make them neat. However these are amazing and way beyond my skill level - even if I had the tools. Mine are wood with all the metal parts purchased from the local hardware or wood working store.

I do like to look at the pictures and admire his work though.
