I am currently building The Santisima Trinidad from Occre . Once I finish it, I was planning on Building the Calder Craft HMS Victory, but now I'm thinking I may wait for the Amati Victory. Sounds really promising.

I would suggest that the Moderators clean up the last pages of this thread with all the "when is the next update?", "any news?"-discussions. I know everyone WANTS to hear news but asking about it doesnt make it faster... Considering how active Jim is on this forum, I am sure we will be the first to know when there are any news. It is kind of clear that this kit has been delayed until further notice.

Current builds: HMS Victory (Corel 1:98), HMS Snake (Caldercraft 1:64), HMBV Granado (Caldercraft 1:64), HMS Diana (Caldercraft 1:64), HMS Speedy (Vanguard Models 1:64)

...As for an over-budget project, then that can't be any further from the truth. The money for this project's development was spent a decade ago with the initial prototype design and build. This is simply a follow up to ready the kit for release with new instructions. Amati's release schedule changed after the pandemic ravaged Italy and temporarily closed their operations. It's more important to them at the moment to work on things that can be released more quickly than the year to 18 months it will take me to do this for them.

Please, no wild, inaccurate and scurrilous claims please. You're posting on a public forum.

I apologize for annoying you with a casual remark, but it is often the case in any large scale project (a road; a bridge; a film etc) that is mystifyingly delayed that the reason is that the money isn't in place and everyone is waiting for a thumbs up from the decision maker. That's all. Not scurrilous just normal.

Having now looked through this thread I can see how annoying this whole thing is for you.

That said if you still have 12-18 months to run on this when you resume then everyone is jumping the gun by a couple of years and should leave you alone I think.

Ok, this topic has been pruned of around 30 posts that were asking status, and those trying to explain things.

When I have news on this project, then here is where I'll post it. If there is no post, then I have no news, so please don't keep enquiring. ;)

Soo, just wondering since its been almost 2 years... is this project of the table with Amati? Covid has been long gone(thank god for that) so in almost 2 years they could make every single part and send by a postdove to your adress..i know that if there was any news you would post it here.. but been looking at this last post for a long time. Hope you have some background gossip on the build :)

Does anyone know if the 1:64th Victory is still being offered by Amati?  As mentioned in the previous post … it’s been a long time since any updates have been posted.  I know that Amati wanted to release Bismarck first … but that was completed earlier this year.

I - so many of us - have been waiting for “half as long” as it took Nat. Geo. discover where the Vasa had sunk to actually be able to buy this stunning kit, which looked (past time) to be too amazing indeed. High on so many “buy” lists indeed 😔 Expensive, PROBABLY, but too hard to ignore, and not buy- IMHO.

PS: Forget about this one

Hello all,

This is my first post on Model Ship World and I fear it may convey disappointing news. I have followed these forums for the last 3 years, earnestly waiting for the release of the much anticipated Amati 1:64 H.M.S. Victory. I am currently working in Italy and on Friday I ventured on a 7 hour round trip to the Amati head office in Turin to find out some more information.

I asked about the progress of the project and when it would be released. The staff explained that they had no plans to release this model at this time due to the very niche and almost exclusively British market it would fulfil. I was told that Amati believed that it would not be able to sell enough of these kits to make a profit. I would like to take the opportunity to say that the Amati staff were very friendly and patient in answering all of my questions.

The Amati staff mentioned that the production of fittings  had been problematic and costly. As has been mentioned here and on other threads, Amati have been investigating the option to split the model into smaller kits to make more accessible for those who would prefer to pay in instalments, this idea however has been shelved owing to the low take up of another Amati model that utilised the same scheme.

I would suggest that anyone interested in purchasing this model contacts Amati registering interest, making enquires etc. I can only hope that people being proactive and vocal will help turn the tide in our favour for this project.

Another tactic may be to push for the release of the model for the 250th anniversary of the commissioning of H.M.S. Victory (May 2028) or perhaps the 225th anniversary of the Battle of Trafalgar (October 2030 (a very long way away I know)).

I hope as I’m sure you all do that Amati or someone will release a 1:64 scale H.M.S. Victory or another first rate of that scale soon. I look forward to hearing about any developments or information anyone else may have.

All the best,

Patrick
