Hi All,

I’m just starting out and jumped in by ordering an entry level kit from Bluejacket. I ordered the Red Baron, a lobster boat and I’m waiting for it to arrive.

I love fishing boats and work boats. I don’t know anything about building models. The only experience that I a have is building Plastic car and airplane Models as a kid, many, many years ago.

I’m looking forward to learning here and hopefully being able to contribute, as well.

Cheers!

Paul

Welcome aboard. Fellow "mainer" here as well. This is a great forum to learn and ask questions about any type of model...(working or sailing). I have visited bluejackets store several times. I highly recommend starting a build log. Pictures in build logs helps everyone with your questions and give you tips to help you along with your build. Working boats are my focus as well. Check my build logs. Starting out... remember it is not a race but a hobby. Enjoy your time at the workbench.

Current Build:

      Andrea Gail - Billings Boat 608 - scale 1:60

      St. Elme - Soclaine - scale 1:20

Finished Build:

Marina II - Artesania Latina - Scale 1:50

       Lobster Boat - Midwest

Mare Nostrum - Artesania Latina - Scale 1:35

Welcome to Model Ship World Pwog.  You have picked a good kit for your first wooden ship model.  The Ensign series of ship model kits from BlueJacket are good kits for first time builders.  I hope you start a build log when you receive your kit.

Welcome to MSW.   If you haven't found it yet, we do have a log on this model.  It might help to review it (it's a finished log) it and see what's involved.

Edward, Patric, Paul and Michael,

Thanks for your welcomes.

I’ll have to admit, after reading through some build logs, (most of boats way beyond my abilities), it’s a bit intimidating.

Hello all,

Thank you for excepting my request to join!! Awesome to find a site that has info that I know I'll be searching for eventually. I am new to the wooden model ship building, but have built several military kits through out my life. Spending 23 years in the US Navy, I have traveled the world. While visiting some pretty exotic ports, I was spotting some pretty cool wooden ships. Now retired, I needed an outlet to relax. I believe I have found it. I just purchased the "Mantua Albatros" from the Wooden Model Ship Kit site. I will make sure to keep updates of my progress. Feel free to criticize my work. Best way to learn, is to learn from the experienced.

Thank you again
