Good choice and very nice work.  Now... <cough> pictures of it at least in place?   Doesn't even have to be glued.

I was reading your log and have a question.  In the beginning, you said that the keel was warped or twisted. I never saw how you fixed this.  What did you do?

Good start Sjors.  You are allowed to kit bash.  However, a full transition to the dark side will require prior approval :)

Thank you all….

Very nice start for a sunday  :)

A lot of positive comment   :D

@ Ben,

So this is bashing??????

You see, I'm never to old to learn …..and the rest of those things scratch????

I will help Anja when she's in to the scratch…..( or maybe I'll keep the Hannah for myself :D )

@ Andy,

I shall try to explain why I don't used the windows from the kit.

At the transom from the kit ,there are 7 windows and I have only 4 ,with a reason.

When you take a look at picture #657, you will see on the left, right and middle, parts of the hull that is not covered.

I had to put planks over it to cover those beams because you always see them.

The windows that are provide are metal gold and I don't like that.

Now I  make the windows smaller and it covered all those beams but you can still take a look over the hole lower deck…...

My first meaning was to put some glass in lead into the frames in the windows, but that's to much for me  :D

I hope this answer your question.

@ Caroline,

Thank you for bringing me a visit.

There is a chair available next to Mark .

Keep him as a friend because he is sitting next to the popcorn machine.

The bar is also open ,so take a drink.

@ Grant,

Thank you very much.

For a first scratch , I'm happy with the result!

Maybe painting today…..

@ Mark,

Later ( in a few hours ) I will place a picture while the transom is in place.

Yesterday night I glued the transom in place and it's fits perfect  :D

I love the view!

@ Popjack ( or is it only Jack? )

You are right.

I never showed it  :(

When you look at the first pictures, you will see a white board where she is standing on.

On that board I have screw 2 L shape metal bars.

It's just the wideness of the keel.

When I place the decks, I put her in that L shapes and place the decks.

As long as it takes to glue the deck and deck planks, she is staying there.

When that was all done, she had no place anymore to get warped.

I hope this answer your question.

@ Augie,

I don't let you alone with your kit build…...

Maybe one day I will go to the dark side, but that can take a couple of years……..

I have to go then to the other section and leaving you…..

No way, I just keep chasing you  :D  :D  :D  :D  :D  :D

The transom is in place…..

It need a little more sanding and I have to see if the quarter galleries are right in place.

Surprise…..they are not  :(

More adjustments are coming…...

It looks if the transom is to small but it is the same size as the old one.

We see what we will do about that.

I only make him higher so it goes to the top.

The inner side of the transom needs some planking.

And of course a few pictures.

No arguments there.

To be honest, I think that trying to jig the old cast stern would have been like putting lipstick on a pig....

What you've got is much nicer.

Thanks for the support Augie  :)

@ Randy,

You are saying it just as it be.

Like that metaphor…..

@ Andy,

It's all metal……….

Even the bottom of quarter gallery's are solid metal.

But that shape is to much to scratch.

So I have to turn her on her side to see if I can glue it together.

First I thought I'm calling a welder…..nah, that's to much.

We will see where it ends…..

It should be ending somewhere.

@ Popjack ( or is it only Jack? )

You are right.

...

I hope this answer your question.

Jack or PopJack is fine.  This is a name I use in many places- some where there are more young people.  Some of them call me "Pop."  (This is not to say everyone here is old :))  Trivia: my name is actually Jack. (Most Americans who use the name "Jack" are actually named "John")

Yes, that clears up my question.  I understand how you solved the problem, thank you.

Hi Jack ( I just call you Jack is that's alright)

I was thinking why I don't wrote what i have done.

In the early days of internet ,there was a other forum that we called MSW 1

After a big crash at the beginning of this year, we have to start all over again with our builds.

I can say that 99% of the builders have only the pictures left on the pc's

We post them all back but no comments anymore.

That was lost in cyberspace…...

That's why you only saw the pictures and no comment what is done.

But we have our memories and a great MSW 2.

Hi Sjors

It will all come together I am sure

You have the skills to overcome your problem  :)

Regarding my builds, it wasn't so noticeable on the Spirit but the tram has shown that I am far too lazy when I comes to smoothing

I should take MUCH more time both fine sanding the parts before use, then sanding smooth especially if any filler is used  :piratetongueor4:

I have the OcCre Barcelona Taxi to practice on next before I get my next big build the OcCre Endeavour

I want the Taxi to be much better and the Endeavour to be perfect

It will be nice to be able to post my log on here again

Keep it up  :10_1_10:

Hi Mick,

Thanks for the visit…...

And I'll do my best about the problem.

Almost solved…...

I have take a look at your tram and…..you can do a better paint job I think.

You just said it your self…to lazy……so come on, get the bull by the horns and give it another layer of paint!

It's pity to let it like this.

I hope you don't mind saying this but the tram is to nice to let it go.

When you start the Taxi, I will take a look also.

And when the Endeavour is coming, I'll be sitting again first row!

And I keep you at your promises, make it perfect…. :D

I'm sure you'll get the transom worked out and fitting well, heck - you're halfway there aleady. Solving these problems is all part of the fun.

Just wait 'till you start getting the urge to make furniture for the cabins!

Hi Jim,

I thought it was also for me beyond my capabilities…….but I have found out that you just have to do it.

Not hesitating but go for it  :D

You have to make some things several times and then still it's not perfect.

But walking is also not learned in one day…...

When you want to do it, you can do it.

Wow, listen to me now…... :D  :D  :D
