I'm up to those triangles as well and they are the killer of the build. I noticed on the pattern that they all must go on one way. I bet you were devastated when you had to pull em all off again! I played around with the whole idea of lighting the boat but electricity and me don't mix and the admiral saw me working with wires and she didnt like idea of me trying to be an electrician so that idea was scraped. Your build has come along great. Keep up the good work :)

i struggled with them until i got the solution. use a toothpick to sort of spear them on then i dab the 2 sides in some CA and then with the ship up side down i put them in place holding on to the toothpick until i can hold them with a finger slightly pressing them against the head post and ceiling. then carefully pull the toothpick out (rotating it make sit easier). wait a little bit till the CA starts to dry then you can let go :)

Hi Adriaan,

Glad to see you again.

I want to send you today a PM if you where not here.

Don't stay away this long anymore or give us a pm or something…...

So we know what's going on.

Or your Admiral can send us a message!

Paddle steamer looks great and I'm happy that the lights are working now  :D

Hello Adriaan,

I'm looking forward to see the lights being turned on.

And I hope you feel better. Are your hands any better yet?

PS - Sjors was a bit worried about you. I just told him how he could see whether you were last active on the forum.

Big Brother friend is watching you kijk.gif

Take care,

sorry about worrying you , i did look in a few times but just didnt feel like i had anything to post.

i had planned to do lots as i had a 4 day weekend but we had some cold and rainy weather here so was not to pleasant in my workshop. But mostly i just needed a break as my mind just kept thinking of one thing when i was workign on her.

my hands are ok still itchy and skin is peeling off but the soreness is gone. hopefuly in a week or two this alergic reaction wil be totaly gone.

progress wil be slow but i wil be workign steadily to see those lights on :)

finding the way to install those pesky triangles I installed them without much trouble

the last bit of railing on that side is done

post-622-0-53072100-1372251419_thumb.jpg

before I can do the other side I need to make the poles that hold up the lower deck and drill out the holes as the bow and stern ones need to have an angle. I had already done that for this side although I might need to adjust the lengths a bit so that the cable (to be installed later ) will run straight through the premade holes in the 2nd and 3rd deck

when I have done all the railing on the 2nd deck I ll need to check and touch up any of them with white paint :)

thanks Popeye . I hope to have the wiring module back inside this weekend and maybe finish it off. if so I can do a full test of them :)

thanks Michael . its a bit fiddley but I am enjoying it :)

thanks Mobsie . haha yeah but they are behaving now and installing one now only takes a minute or 2 :)

thanks Jim :)

I drilled out the holes and test fitted the poles though them. I also adjusted the length of the poles according to the 1:1 plan . now I just have to duplicate them :)

I also had some time to install 4 more railings . 8 more to go on this level then finish off with the triangles and that finishes off every thing on deck 2 :)

Sweet work Adriaan

You should be so proud of the railings and triangles

They look so good

BTW I am SO pleased with the way the wheels are going

I had put a couple of spokes in the first one last night and I have now finished three

The two rear and one front

The jig and plan that OcCre provide made it a lot easier than I expected

I hope your Stagecoach goes as well

it hasn't been a good weekend and I feel like I have gone backwards

first after realising I still had 8 shutters while only 4 where needed I discovered I forgot to put the 4 shutters at the back 2 windows

post-622-0-33914900-1372599360_thumb.jpg

while determining on how I was going to install them without damaging the railings I noticed that the stairs had split open

post-622-0-02550800-1372599367_thumb.jpg

installing the shutters was easy but as you some of the triangles came off (grrrrrr)

post-622-0-14224900-1372599374_thumb.jpg

when fitting the back small smoke stacks the railing popped off as it was in the path of the stack

post-622-0-59802400-1372599381_thumb.jpg

I had to file the inner part of the railing to fit round the stack. here they are dry fitted as I will wait till the smokestack will be glued in

post-622-0-69464300-1372599388_thumb.jpg

after 3 attempts at fitting in the stairs and breaking it each time, I have no choice and will have to remove the back railing to install it :(

I did manage to finish off most of the railings

post-622-0-94909900-1372599395_thumb.jpg

so no work has been done on the lights this weekend :(

I swear Adriaan that the 1 step forward, 2 steps back is what this hobby is all about. I feel for you buddy, I know firsthand the frustration you are feeling. Time to get up from the work bench, go pull some weeds in the garden, or mow the yard...anything to clear the head. Then you sit back down, and tackle each litte issue one at a time!!! As I have learned, the ship will wait patiently for your return!
