Polaris by Daniel Filipe - FINISHED - OcCre - 1:50 - first build

Recommended Posts

@DrKThanks!

after the first planking, I’ve used only sandpaper. A round tool with sandpaper is good for the curves..

I had to remove almost all the nails, because sanding with nails is not easy 😬

This is my first model ship, I don’t have all the knowledge about ship modeling, in this forum you have masters than can help you a lot, more than myself 😅

Incredible work! I'm also doing the Polaris, though I'm a bit behind you (I'm halfway through planking). Looking forward to following your progress.

Perhaps a simple question, but any tips for sanding the hull after first planking? Any inexpensive tools that were helpful?

Hi DrK,

I am building a different model, but to me the most useful tool was a broomstick piece with sanding paper glued around it. It worked perfekt in the stern/deadwood area. It's also quite inexpensive. And in the days of vacuum cleaners, who needs a broom... 😉

Very nice - it's interesting to see how this model compares to the Artesania Latina Swift kit.  Pretty similar model though some different deck furniture.
