Greetings from Colorful Colorado

Recommended Posts

Howdy folks!

Wanted to introduce myself.  I'm Todd.  I live in Gunnison, CO.  I'm a longtime modeler.  I grew up building plastic models and HO train layouts with my Dad.  I like to operate RC craft of all types.  I'm a hobby machinist and am currently working on a live steam locomotive project.

Served 8 years in the US Navy in both aircraft and submarines.  And, now I'm a project manager at a glass company.

I'm glad I've found this forum.  I've been amazed over the last few weeks at the skills and dedication of the folks here and the models that have been built.  My own project is the AL Bluenose II.  Believe it or not, but I bought the kit in August of 1993 while I was stationed in Groton, CT.  I took many trips to the Mystic Seaport and caught the ship modeling bug there.  They have the most incredible museum there.  I started the kit soon after I bought it.  Completed the first hull planking, and half of the second.  Then as it often does life had me focus on other priorities.  And, it wasn't until summer of 2018 that I could again turn my focus on modeling.  Since then I've finished the assembly of the wood parts and the standing rigging.  I'm currently finishing sewing the last four sails.  And, I'm looking forward to putting on the running rigging and sails.  I hope to have it done before the model's 29th birthday. 🤪 I'm also currently designing and building the display case that she'll rest in.  Following that I have the AL "King of the Mississippi" and "Virginia 1819" waiting in the wings.

Looking forward to learning more from the Masters here.

Todd

Welcome Aboard Shipmate!  This is the place to lean and hone all your hobby skills concerning wooden ships. Several lifetimes of model building experience to help you… just ask. You can even start a build log for say… an EA-6B. 👍😀

Hi Todd, and welcome to MSW.

I'd recommend you start a build log for your model. It's a great opportunity for help and advice from the friendly and helpful members here. And also do a search (top right of this page) for your model, to see what other people who've built the same model did and how they overcame the problems you may come across in your own build.

Welcome to MSW, Todd.  I go along with the others on suggesting you do a build log.  They're  a great way to meet other modelers and also get help when needed.
