Possibly "reputation" and the myths that boosted them?  Back in my control line flying days, I went for the German ones.  Maybe it was the colors and the looks?

I guess the same goes for the Swedish Wasa 1628. Over the top impressive at its time, but failed extraordinaire kind of direct.

Happy modelling!

Hello everyone.
Thanks for the kit presentation, Yves.
My wife accepted the model when the postman came. I thank God that she likes my hobby so much.

Of course there is already a Pontos set for the ship.

Three sheets of instructions. Now made a little more understandable than before.

All sorts of brass parts and resin blast bags.

The obligatory wooden deck.

Very good large etched parts for the deck.

I hope you can see that through the bags. I don't like unpacking it before I start building.

Fantastic surface details. As always with Pontos.

Five etched part sheets and one sheet of dry decal.

By the way, I still have parking spaces for the 1:200 monsters. 😅

I was able to pick up one of the Trumpeter 1/200 scale US battle ships USS Missouri at a very good price $225.00 from a fellow modeller who believed in the old phrase "I can do anything tomorrow", but as with most, his tomorrow never came. But at least he was smart enough not to leave his wife stuck with trying to get rid of it when his tomorrows come to an abrupt end. How ever, I do love you tomorrow modellers because you keep me busy, God bless you.

But one consolation is the kit even if not built is magificent just to set and stare at, which I do quite often while building the Calypso.

Uhggggg, yes, tomorrow never comes for those projects. I am doing another "Swedish Death Cleaning sort" for my wife's benefit of my massive kit stash. Of course, I have the giant Nichimo Yamato and all of the Fujmi replacement fixes. I probably should post some of my kits for sale here. Of course, if Trumpy really wants to sell a zillion kits a 1/200 Kongo or any American cruiser would likely do very well. I might even build a USS Houston!

Unless we get ourselves one of those big commune style tubs, a model like that is WAY too big to float in our bathtubs at bath time. 🙂

That's a fact. You can run it in a lake or pond, but it better be quite calm and a good sized open space because it take a country mile to turn.
