Started work on internal bulkheads and ladders.  Also a couple of really nice sheaves.  They were pretty fun to put together.

Hey Bob,

Congratulations! You've passed the half-way mark, at least as far as the step numbers in the instructions go. Time to celebrate with some Sake?

I really like the way the wipe on poly looks on your model, particularly on the thin, colored wood. It's all looking really nice.

But, you're making want to build another Woody Joe kit now...

Bob,

Very nice rope.  Did that come with the kit or is it Chuck-rope?

All,

Sorry I have been out of touch.  We have recently moved from San Diego to Norfolk, Ma.  The move was unexpected and done quickly (family issues back east).  Anyway, my stuff just arrived Friday and I have to set up my new shop.  I will be back to building by the new year.

Also looking to join the Constitution Guild as well as anything in the Providence area.  I hope WackoWolf can guide me to a good group.

I hope nothing gets lost or damaged.  I hope the issues can be worked out easily.  I have problems with my mother at the moment.  But we are a lot a like in many ways. According to my sister we are life to ac terminals on a car battery.  We just cannot get along for a long period of time.  I try but it can be rough at my age to change my attitudes and way of thinking to make happy with how I am doing.  In her eyes we are still her children so she has he parental right to tell us what to do and we should blindly obey her whims and be at her beck and call. 24 hrs a day.  I love and care deeply for her but can only be in the same omom for about 2 hrs before I get very uncomfortable around her.  I told Diane and Ed that they have a great deal more patience with her and her way of doing things than I.  Ed told me that when she acts up he just tells her that if she does not want him around al she has to do is say so.  Dane is a special needs teacher and all the headaches that can be had and is about ready to give up on her wishes. When I told her what the Drs. told me about my infection I thought she was going to brain me for blaming her beloved little kitten.  And she blames me for not visiting her not her cat and when I did not inform her about my problems and did not lover her.  I do not wish to worry her and respect her privacy.  She almost came to Iowa City when she was told that she could not access my medical records and threatened legal action.  The hospital informed her that according to the law they can turn medical records over to either a legal guardian or a designated person.  That is Dian and or Ed since I am staying with them.  She was furious.

Mothers you can't live with them and can't live without them.

Bob,

That was a fast move.  Did you need to change employers also?  Anyway, take of you and the things that need to be taken care of.  I don't think MSW is moving anywhere.  Particularly take care of yourself.  Moves are stressful enough and even moreso when they have to be done quickly.

Hi Bob, hope you're getting settled in okay.

I hope you don't mind me interrupting your build log with this, but I just wanted to mention for the benefit of those who are interested in this kit that a local importer (local to me in the SF Bay Area) made some kind of deal last year with Woody Joe to sell some of their kits on Amazon and to provide them with English language instructions. Among the kits are the Higaki Kaisen, Battleship Yamato, large Nippon Maru and others. Problem was that he jacked the prices up by 50% over retail – That's 50% on top of prices that are generally kind of high to begin with.

Well, a year later and I don't think he's sold but a tiny handful of kits. With high prices and no marketing, what can you expect? Appears now that he may be dumping them, or at least some of them. I recently noticed the Higaki Kaisen listed at about $238, which is a good sale price, but then I just looked a couple days ago again and it is now listed at $187.36, that's a $230 drop from what he was originally selling at and it is also about $70 less than I've been able to get it for from Japan after paying shipping. He's only got 11 of them, but I haven't seen any of them sell. Not sure how long the price will last, but it's a really good deal, plus you get the English language version instructions.

I wouldn't normally plug this guy, as I like to direct business to my friend Kazunori at Zootoyz.jp, but the prices are VERY good and I think these are the last 11 available at this price.

Bob, I'll be looking forward to seeing you startup on your Higaki Kaisen build again.

Clare,

Greetings once again.  Based on your post, I checked Amazon for the HK.  The only one I found on Amazon (9 left) wanted $419.99.

Bummer. Looks like he sold 2 of them at the reduced price, then kicked the prices back up again. If you don't mind the Japanese instructions, you can still get them straight from Japan for about $260 from my friend Kazunori at zootoyz.jp. He only does Paypal though.

Sorry about that. It was a good deal while it lasted.

Glad you're back here Bob. I went over this amazing build, and your Connie build, a couple months ago and you're doing a beautiful job on her. Can't wait to see more progress pics.

Cheers
