Hi Randy,

Very nice job !

I can see that you use an old camera….

The picture are that small that I'm glad that we have a mac  :D

I can magnify the pictures and still sharp !!!!

But great job on the ratlines.

Happy that you have done them ?

Progress is progress Randy regardless of how small, it will all in the end, add to the whole and become a finished product. I think the rat lines look fine, I am betting there will be even more practice to come on the next build lol.

Randy, I can't tell from your pics, and I can't figure out how to make them bigger...just in case, I discovered when doing the running rigging that many of the rail caps on this ship also double as pin rails. If you look at the large color photos on the sheet that came with the kit, you will see them. Hoping you noticed this sooner than I did, as it is proving to be an issue getting the holes drilled now.

I'm glad things are returning to normal for you Randy.  Life has it's many distractions, some annoying and some downright scary.  Some folks take solace in their projects.  Others, like me, can't focus during those periods and need to resolve what's going on first.

In any case, welcome home.  Looking forward to your progress.

Before you start drilling holes, have you considered stropping the blocks with sewing thread?  This can then be tied directly to the yard.

I've thought about it and see no downside.... anyone? Am I heading down a path of despair and unhappiness? or is this a decent fix versus AL's instructions of a wire wrap and then wrap some more? I have time to rethink this because tomorrow is leaf day... yep, that old horrid custom of raking and bagging a few billion leaves.... I don't know why but this is my Sunday.... gasp.... wheeze,,,.,,,, I won't touch Florencia again until Monday at the earliest because tomorrow is supposed to be a beautiful day... to do leaves.  :(

It won't really matter Randy. Once you add the sails and the lines, the blocks wont move anymore

Good progress Randy, the fun really begins now, if we thought AL instructions were bad before...omg they are non-existent for the rigging portion!

you just alternate bead, rib, bead, rib, until you have it long enough to seat against the mast and then take the loose ends of the threads to attach the yard to the mast just like you did in the pic above. notice in the instructions the flat part of the ribs is supposed to be seated against the mast. If you look close at mine I tied them on backward, go figure lol.

Glad it helped.  Hope you enjoy that rigging book.  It truly does 'all fit together'.  You'll see that when you go to adjust the mizzen backstay and the spritsail yard pivots :D  :D :D
