I really like the brackets on the replica also which are horizontal or vertical depending of gun port placement, while retailing the horizontal line of the bar placement. If I wanted easy I'd build plastic models with premolded pieces, but that doesn't satisfy near as much as the thinking and developing of ways to create and solve each build step. Plus there's lots of room for personalization, depending on the builders preferences. I love also seeing other builders create in the same manner, or like in your present case. Take the creation process further to dismantling and making things more correct (be it historic or preference). Only the builder knows what is correct for them. For example, look at this 1610 Galeon that is a bronze medal winner in 2008 http://www.modelships.de/Stockholm_Galleon/Stockholm-Galleon.htm Nice beautiful work, but that green, ICK. You go to fix one thing, and in the tear down create more work for yourself. i had the same problem with the channels when I removed my rigging....decided against changing the twisted wire out for proper chainplates. No way I wanted to repair all the damage I knew I would cause to my hull since I have those wires CA'd in place to stop the twisting. But, I do believe in the end you will be happier.
