  1. coming along nicely hake- oh to have figured out the compass post and ice bridge before i had nearly finished the model!! Keith
  2. nice find Keith- i have an old railway oil lamp made by Adlake with a yellow (caution) lens but it does have a crack on the lens and i had to source a new wick holder (the oil tank is original though). Keith
  3. You are welcome- now would be a good time to use the Occre instructions to light the fire😁 Keith
  4. wow coming along there Hake- word of caution though, the ropes from the helm lead to blocks underneath the barrel for the steering rope then to the blocks in the bulwarks then to the tiller. Keith
  5. who said building a model of a ship with lots of available photos would make life easier! 😁 Keith
  6. Yeah i noticed the same differences on various photos- also the ladder accessing the bridge is as depicted by billings/ constructo but on some pics and the heller model they lead on to the bridge itself running fore/aft. I think the pic with no bridge is her original style as it would make more sense to add a bridge than to remove it (the photo also looks more 'grainy') Keith
  7. Ty Greg- as you can see there were a few amendments as more info came to light. Keith
  8. progressing nicely Greg- i still find it interesting how similar this kit and the Billings kits are regards deckhouses/ bridge etc- main difference is how the hull is planked (just the standard rough billings planking strips). Keith
  9. Ty Oliver hope you both have fun with her, also checkout Keith S and Daniel D's build logs. Keith
  10. they are indeed real names for decks- the f'csle can also be referred to as the anchor deck. Keith
  11. well done- i thought i was the only who was going one to install the roller reefing topsails😁(really need tor re-start my Endurance)! Well done on the model so far. keith
  12. It's amazing how with just a little alteration and basic scratch building you start having a model that looks like Terror- Keith S, Daniel D and myself altered the skylights by various means to get away from the prison style bars look! Keith
  13. just catching up with last few posts Keith- nice save with the hatch. Even with reference photos its interesting to see there are still grey areas on certain fittings! Keith
  14. i use Evo-stick fast grab wood glue - takes longer but if the 2nd planking is of decent wood with a bit of pre bending and some dressmakers pins a few planks at a time can be used. Keith
  15. nice work with the mast- maybe use some thin planking to add a 2nd layer to the roof of the closets leaving a slight overhang at the sides if that makes sense. Keith
  16. Hello Keith- hope you are doing o.k.- any thoughts / progress on your little terror? Keith
  17. Thanks Geo- i thought you would like the finished ship- many thanks also go to Craig (A.K.A. i must be crazy) who helped Keith S and myself sort out the conundrum regards the azimuth compass and the post it sits on. Keith
  18. Thanks Gus- it was shall we say interesting at times! Keith
  19. looks credible enough Tom, and yes the chain will pass through the deck. Keith
  20. A few people have been caught out with that dotted line across the rudder head! I use the birchwood brass blackener as well (did a mean job on the brass anchor chain). Keith
  21. Thanks Richard - best to start from last post and work backwards as a lot of ideas were altered as the build went along! Keith
