  1. Thanks guys- it was a really bad one- must be longest i have been away from my modelling room since it was built! Keith
  2. finally back in the shipyard after battling a rather nasty viral chest infection for a month! have decided to replace the ply capping rails on the bow section with some basswood -made overlarge and will be sanded to shape when fully dry. Also cut out apertures in the stern for the windows (occre just suggest painting the back of the glazing) still need cleaned up and the interior woodwork will be painted black. glad to be functioning properly again! take care all Keith
  3. Nice work on the stovepipe- I noticed the white look as well after painting mine but luckily i havent glued mine in. To be honest it Zinc coloured as all the old wooden fishing boats my dad worked on had coal stoves with a silvery/ galvanised stove pipe- oh to get some colour pics! Keith
  4. Looking good Hake- when rigging runs to an eyebolt/ thimble you need to make an eye in the stay then after a few turns through the thimble / eye they are clinched or frapped on themselves if that makes sense. Keith
  5. i can say the same of yours Keith- and oh yes felines are definitely missing a chromosome Keith
  6. Thanks for the likes and comments -always appreciated-bit more shipyard time as i need to order some more tongue and groove planking to finish lining out my garden workshop with the entryways/ ports being lined with walnut strip- also made up the carcasses for the crew hatches and skylights. The hatch towards the stern has been lowered in height as Occre still have both the same dimensions as with their Terror kit. The skylights will be altered from how Occre do them but not sure if a will repeat what i did with Terror's or try a different method. walked into the living room the other night to find our cat stretched out upside down on the admirals legs looking very content! Take care everyone and keep up the good work. Keith
  7. Thanks guys- those Caldercraft ships wheel kits are awesome😁. Keith
  8. Thanks for the likes and comments as always everyone. Actually spent a little time in the shipyard last couple of days- have made replacement stands for the helm from walnut and filed a piece of scrap brass sheet to shape for the inclinator and used brass rod for the pointer. The helm isn't fastened in place yet. take care all Keith
  9. Looking good Greg- ahhh the joys of shrouds and ratlines! Hope you have had a nice Christmas. Keith
  10. Thanks and here's hoping you are having better weather than the constant wind and rain we are getting here (i think our Norse ancestors who settled here upset a rain god and they are still punishing us)! Keith
  11. Nice to see you back with her Keith and she is looking awesome. Keith
  12. not sure Daniel- i use painted tissue paper to simulate canvas which when dry is stiff and stays put. Keith
  13. still working on fitting out my garden workshop so no shipyard updates (hopefully back with her soon). Just wanted to say Merry Christmas everyone and "ev a gud yan" as we say in Cumbria (have a good one)! Keith
  14. Brings back memories Hake! I wouldn't actually permanently fasten the davits and bridge in place till the rigging is finished as it is tight trying to belay around the main and mizzen masts. Keep up the good work. Keith
  15. You are welcome - they look a trillion % better Daniel- nice job 😁 Keith
  16. Welcome back Hake- been away from my shipyard as well while i try and get my outdoor workshop sorted (lining out the insides now) Keith
  17. I dont know if american railroaders use them but here in the U.K. we use open spoked pulleys to guide signal wiring ( a firm called wizard models does multi layered etched ones in 00 gauge and 0 gauge) the build is really starting to look nice and busy- keep it up. Keith
  18. oh jeez dood all the usual comments regarding your sanity- as i mentioned in another log we do like creating boundless hours of fun for ourselves! Keith
  19. well spotted on the stern Bob- also note the cleat for the boom sheets. Keith
  20. some nice details on the derricks and funnel Daniel Keith
