  1. Lee Valley Tools is also offering it through their website
  2. Welcome Robert. nice job on your Constellation Well, I finally got all the lower gun ports cut out and lined. Don't think I messed it up too badly. Did have to do some sanding of the upper sills in order to get the cannons to protrude through the gun ports. Now I have to layout and cut out the upper gun ports. And the instructions call for the installation of the "clear" (manila colored) and dark (walnut colored) 0.5 mm thick second planking - more like a veneer than planks but it does improve the overall appearance.
  3. You guys are all lucky. Admiral and I are both eligible but still can't find an appointment even at the Walgreens 1/4 mile from us. 😟
  4. Basswood 1 https://www.woodcraft.com/products/basswood-1-2-x-3-x-24
  5. You can also find basswood blocks at any store that carries wood carving supplies. It is used in woodcarving. Look for a Woodcraft outlet.
  6. The Paradise California Camp Fire occurred November 8, 2018 and was not contained until November 25, 2018. I spoke with Bob right after this fire occurred and he told me his son lived in this area and lost everything in the fire, as Bob Cleek pointed out in his post above, including all copies of the source code for their website. His son has to start from scratch. Please cut them some slack.
  7. My condolences to you and Judy, Michael. Pets are family too. We lost our 14 year old Corgi a year ago and still feel the loss.
  8. Very decorative and complex. Looks old ! Is it ?
  9. Edward, Got an email this morning from a fellow iceboater that we have good river ice about 20 miles north of me. Looks like some nice sailing this weekend. 😃 Currently 11 F this morning .
  10. Your boat looks good, Edward. Rope rail looks good too. Those temperatures are about what we are experiencing here this week; although they report that an area in Montana near Glacier National Park record z morning temp of -36 F earlier this week - they believe it was the lowest in the lower 48 since 1994. Overnight tonight we are expecting the Arctic blast to hit us windchills down to -10 F. Forecasting snow for Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday next . Time to break out the Barbie
  11. Snow pack measures 9 inches, 23 centimeters, in my yard and that is compressed from sun.
  12. Nope ! Overnight low at my place was 13 F (-10.5 C), at this posting it is now 17 F (-8 C) and we have 3 inches of fresh snow from yesterday. Boat looks good. Rope looks fine to me. Stanchions also. Stay warm !
  13. 6 inches of white stuff will paralyze Manhattan and the Boroughs 😀
  14. just get out the leaf blower for that little dusting, Chris ! 😉😃😃
  15. Nice job Denis ! Looks very realistic. Great addition to your model collection. Just an FYI: the area with the light in it is called "the lantern room", the floor immediately blow that is called "the watch room". If you ever get to Baltimore, go tour the Seven Foot Knoll screwpile lighthouse they have displayed on one of the piers in their Inner Harbor tourist area.
  16. Thanks Michael ! I will keep that in mind. Your jigs are quite helpful . I have been learning a lot from following your builds.
  17. Decided to start cutting out the gun ports before I go any further. Not proving to be an easy go of it. So far I have not screwed it up too badly. I'm following @JDDouglass example and prefabricated the liners from 1/16 basswood sheets. My Veritas miniature carpenters square Measuring guage @michael mott inspired thickness planer jig for my Veritas miniature Bench plan (still fine tuning this one, Michael, if you are looking in, critiques welcome.) Stay tuned ! 😉
  18. That is a one way lane, every 1/2 mile they widen it so cars in opposing directions can pass, if you get caught between passing section one of them has to back up to the previous passing zone..........
  19. This should give you perspective Tug Hill Plateau region of NY [this is what my uncle described encountering on his drives to Massena]
  20. Yes ! Plus the snow compressed making it firmer than fresh snow
  21. My uncle had one of those when he lived in Watertown NY, east of the infamous Tug Hill Plateau, back when they were building the St Lawrence Seaway. His company, Atlantic-Richfield Oil, was a major lubricant supplier for the construction equipment. They sent him up there to oversee their contracts; 2nd year he lived there he had to use that 2nd story exit. He had some wild stories to tell about the drive from Watertown to Massena NY during winter, in the days before "climate change". And cars didn't rust up there either, no road salt, at least not until they hosted the Winter Olympics in the 1980. Don't have any of those down here in the Valley.
