    Certainly, stain before gluing. The wood doesn't absorb most anything, once you get glue in there.

    Good to see you back at it, Alan. Castle is coming along nicely. One hint on that Amodel Yak. The fit is how can I say, challenging. I started a Yak-28 Firebar interceptor and stopped with the engine nacelles awaiting fitting to the wings. The weapons are kind of dodgy,too.

    The Dauntlesses had fixed wings, no fold mechanism.

    They like to demolish bird feeders, too. A friend had his feeder turned into a pretzel. Now they no longer put anything out. Deer are my biggest problem; they enjoy flowers. Your steamboat is progressing nicely, Rod.

    Denis, take a look at model RR gladhands, used to connect locos or cars. The semis use a very similar piece. Do the trailers have a document box or similar for paperwork that stays with the trailer?

    Don't know if you've heard of Solvaset. It's a pretty strong decal setting agent. Some of the older decals were pretty thick and Solvaset helped to get them set on car sides. It's pretty much a last resort. to get decals laying flat.

    Your execution of all those vignettes really elevates this build. Tells a story of hard work. Bravo!

    The USN had hangar deck catapults on the Yorktowns and early Essexes. I saw a picture of a Hellcat going off that way. Took up a lot of space and limited the ship to only the starboard catapult on the flight deck. It was a short shot and usually with some kind of crosswind. They were removed in late '42 into' 43.
