  1. I'm not quite sure the size is an advantage for Amati. Well, it definitely is for the model, but for realtively small housed kit builders like me, this kind of sizes is prohibitive (and I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one living in a moderate size house) Jan
  2. Nothing unusual about the ship itself. That's exactly what makes finding her a bit tough.... Jan
  3. "Houston, we have a problem", but that was an other kind of ship, as far as I can remember.... Question: are these your own pics (and if so: what do you do for a living!??!) Jan
  4. Sorry to disappoint you: 1. the kit-manufacterer in the Maritime museum has gone out of business 2. the Hoving book is just sold-out in new, so you have to go for the second-hand version. (mind you, there are some ridiculous prices being asked....) 3. Valkenisse and Zeehaan are about 150 years apart. The system of the rigging is comparable, but there is certainly no one-to-one correspondence... Utrecht is a nice ship: I once made a couple of pics of the 'real thing': https://picasaweb.google.com/101597346346552139735/UtrechtsStatenjacht# (mainly details, as someone on MSW1 was doing a cardboard version of her, and liked to have some pics of the scroll-work, as the work as build, differs from the work as drawn.) Jan
  5. When the gun recoils (jumping or not ), do both breachropes have the same amount of slack, or is the thinner breachrope slightly longer, and just the safe guard if the thick one fails? Jan
  6. And aren't we all in the same family :) Jan
  7. I know what it is: it's a paddle steamer :D Jan
  8. tchtchtch.... Andy making mistakes on Lakers.... Not your lucky day, today Jan
  9. Now we are really confused Andy, please help us out. Jan
  10. On MSW1 we used to have a list of ships used. That would make such a hint more easy to follow up.... Jan
  11. Their latest news dates back from 2011. Don't think anything will come from there.... Jan
  12. These ships I Always think 'white star' Beautiful ship, btw. Jan
  13. Thanks! Sounds reasonable. It was the size and even more, the model if the beam that made me wonder. Jan
  14. That massive beam you milled, would that have been one piece in the original, or three parts bolted together? Jan
  15. Ah, I understand. Mine is from 1956, no high ceilings, nor any spacious spare bedrooms..... Even watering and fertilizers didn't help to grow it any bigger Jan
  16. I often come across teh term 'dry brush'. Can you elaborate a little bit? Jan
  17. Hi Cees, Are you using the Emke-drawings? And: just for info: how long is the model? Jan
  18. And he claims he can store a couple of the in his hallway upstairs.... Just wondering in what type of house he lives. My next build has to be a 1:200 scale, as my storage is virually nil..... Jan
