  1. The post op appointment went well stitches removed, looks a bit ugly at the moment will be able to get it wet again in a couple more days. Doc was pleased with the progress and my feedback regarding the lack of pain. There is a little bruising that will subside over time. I told him that i was using my fingers and he was pleased told me to keep doing it, I confided that I would lay of the WWF boxing for a while yet though, Made him laugh during these stressful days for the medical profession. Cheers Michael
  2. Update The surgery went well my hand is still a bit sore with the usual post op type pain while healing occurs. I have some pain medication that I have been using occasionally and with caution. more time reading books less time on a computer. more time sitting in the garden smelling the encroaching fall smells My son and granddaughter brought a home made lasagna by yesterday it was delicious. kudos to my Daughter in law! Michael
  3. One can only see one side at a time so I would not sweat such a small discrepancy. Nice work all round. Michael
  4. Wow! what a great looking machine lathe. Capstan tailstock, built in indexing plate for the headstock, what more can a person ask for. Michael
  5. So what am I missing here? I must admit to being a bit out of touch lately. Michael
  6. In about 5 to six weeks after surgery I am told. I should be able to start pushing chisels again, I am looking forward to it. Michael
  7. Some good news I saw the surgeon a couple of weeks ago and was scheduled for surgery on the 20th September, this morning I was slotted into a cancellation spot on the 9th September so next week it is. Michael
  8. Looks like you are doing a great job on the planking, not rushing is the key to most model-work I have found. Michael
  9. Thank you so much for the additional information, and kudos to you all for the work you are doing to support Rob and Vladimir. Michael
  10. Hi, JD A little catching up, the progress on the prep for the planking looked like a great deal of work. Nice little clamps and the transom turned out well. Enjoy the full size sailing a pretty looking boat for sure. I am glad that I am using bent frames on my model of Skipjack, and not cut ones. I am looking forward to watching your planking work. Michael
  11. Hi Rob, doing a little catching up, looks like you have been very busy, the ship is looking great, super work on the tiny details. I really liked the comparison shots with the old photographs. The figure head looks great, how did you make her? I did not see any info on her so I must have missed it. Again the work is looking superb. Michael
  12. I thought this was an interesting build Michael
  13. (Chariots of fire)? You could try something like this. Michael
  14. Hi Druxey, I have been thinking about it the last few days, I will see how it goes. Joe, yes there is a lot of delay regarding medical situations that are not deemed emergency, here as well. Michael
  15. I am unable to report any progress at this time, I am still waiting to see the surgeon, I am on a wait list and about 3 weeks ago I was told it could be up to 6 months, I am doing some puttering in the workshop, mostly little things and reading, doing some jigsaw puzzles. computer work is more painful that puzzles or reading. doing some simple stuff learning to use my left hand more. Michael
  16. To everyone who is following along on this build. I am unable to do any modelwork for a while, as I am waiting to get some Carpel Tunnel surgery done on my right hand. It has been steadily getting worst over the last 6 months or so, and I finally realized that I need to get it looked at. The neuropathy report used words like severe and immediate in it. My GP has sent letters to three surgeons in hopes that we can get it seen to more quickly. I am wearing a rigid wrist brace which is helping to keep me from sneaking into the model shop to work, which is detrimental to my future well being in my right hand. I did have Carpel tunnel surgery in both hand a few years back. And Rob I have not forgotten your piece of the Lightning. regards Michael
  17. Very nicely done, it was good to hear you explaining the process this evening. It is interesting that on my full size Yawl Maria I laced the mast the same way as the gaff using the method you used for your gaff. It worked very well on my boat and never caused me any headaches while sailing. Michael
  18. A great tutorial again Druxey, an inspiration to those of us who have a lot to learn yet on this muckin' about wiv Boat models stuff. Congratulations on the completion. Michael
  19. Well I had a meeting yesterday with my GP, he had received the report from the neuropathy tests, and used words like severe and immediate. so it looks like I will be getting surgery sooner rather than later. Doc was sending out three letters to different surgeons in hopes of speeding up the required work. That said I was a bit surprised that it was so serious, so I will be taking a break, which won't be easy. A good time to do some gentle tidying up. and reading and smelling the roses so to speak. Michael
  20. Just found this build Mark, funny how we miss these sometimes, A lovely piece of model-work, I was not sure about the stainless, but the effects of the soft reflection will be great. I too find the contrasts in the wood grain to be a delightful way to represent planks. Michael
