Hi and thank you all for your reply's.
This model was built for the Plymouth Education and resource people.
They will use it as a display Hopefully for the Mayflower 400/401 as I think this years celebrations have been put back a year.
Its been a Fun build all the way through. And had a lot of help with obtaining plans and books relating to the build.
Its been a interesting concept build a cross section of this type. The wife thinks I should do a cross section at the same scale with all the timbers in place.. No mast.

    Regards Antony.

    Hi.
Well its a nice conclusion to the build.
Today the Model has been collected after waiting some 18 months  for the Covid to calm down.
The nice thing is my work area is free again and its time to start researching something else to build.
A BIG thanks to all for your support and Comments.

    Hi.
I have the Proxxon MF70 mill.
Got mine from new from EBay compleat with the vice, set of colets, rotary chuck, set of 3 cutters, and clamping kit.
The cutters are excellent quality and cut very clean. And I use mine a lot
Have also brought a chuck that I can use to hold cutters or small drills. Just using mine ATM drilling 0.5 holes and there are a lot of them.
Also purchased a set of cutters with 6 different shapes. Not yet tried them.
You can get PCB board cutters that are very small and will cut hardwood forever These will fit into the chuck.
Spend some time and tighten the gib strips.
Really spend time on this as it will improve the Quality of the cut and give longer cutter life and machine life.

In my opinion it's a very good machine But don't expect it to mill steel.

AntonyUK got a reaction from Rob S in For Beginners -- A Cautionary Tale
    Hi.
Quite a different story for me..
I started at the age of 6 or 8. Never had any money or kits around at that time.
Only plastic kits of aircraft were the rage with kids.
A local fisherman who made models from wood he found washed up on the beach was his local supplier.
This guy had a wicked eye for ships lines and shapes. He would carve the models from the drift wood that had been drying over several years with very little tools and drawings.
Nothing is a failure in his eyes as it is art in his style.

The first thing I made out of wood was a raft. Very basic with bamboo canes as the timber.
The next one was a rowing boat made from a plug that my tutor had made a few years earlier.
This one was made using candle wax to release the glue. Two straps of planks a day...
After that I started making my own designs. What was pleasing to my eyes was the shape and style.

I take breaks from my ship modeling... last time I did any was some 5 months ago. Now summer is over will finish my Korean ship.

Many people fail to compleate there model due to very poor instructions. And to poor quality of the kit contents.
There are some excellent posts and help on beginners choice of kit here on this forum.

What I am trying to say is.. Don't care what other people think of your ship or boat. We all have got to learn to use our hands and head together.
For begginers... post it and you Will get the help.
    Don't compare your work with other people's. ... It's your ship/boat.
Ask before you proceed if you don't understand what the instruction are trying to say.

Enough of my ranting and trying to put the world to right.

    Regards Antony.

    Hi.
I also have purchased a 3D Printer (Elegoo Mars pro. )
I have used the printer for Model making components (Not ship).
Hero Forge is by far the best Figurine shop I have seen. So many choices of kit. clothing. posture. and the list is endless.
With the Figurine's available I will be putting some on my Ships as well. And being scalable they will adapt to any model I build.

    Hi Mike.
    Another interesting build
I would say NO to the Oozing glue bit . Any excess glue soaked into the wood and will affect the varnish, stain and even Dope
    All the best.

    Hi Micheal.
Having not seen the plans or drawings ...it's not easy to advise you.
Check and double check if you are not sure.

The bulkhead that your punch is pointing to looks as if it needs building up to the correct level.
Then fair it down... check that the bulkhead is at the correct height at the top first. I cannot tell by looking at any of your photos.

Also check if you need any build up on the sides.

    All the best.

    Hi Erik.
    Welcome to MSW.
Where are you from Erik ?
    Nice progress on the Victory.
Nice move putting the brass gunports between the planking layers.
Also a nice touch is putting the monograms on the cannons. They look like Chucks.

Will follow along on this one.

    Hi.
    Welcome to MSW.
Your build is looking good and will give you a nice little model when completed.
Like Mark said.. Dry fit everything. Then check it again.

Slowly using sand paper on a block that span's the minimum of 4 ribs. And checking with a plank to get the angles correct.
Do not press to hard on the block or it will damage the ribs/Bulkheads. Like I said Slowly but surely.
Have a look at the link below...If it works.
Fairing the hull and other bits

AntonyUK got a reaction from Eugenio Treviño in Quality of Corel kits?
    Hi.
My views are different from the others.
    But seeing you have asked..

Not so happy with Corel HMS Victory cross section.
Instructions are very poor. And Corel left out a lot of detail that could have been added.
The wood was very good. But some of the fittings were unusable with out a lot of modification.
Hammock stays we're trashed as the holes were at completely the wrong angle.
    Rigging blocks were trashed.
Not all the fittings were there according to the list supplied.

I don't normally diss things but this kit was poor.

    Regards Antony.

    Hi Phil.
Have you looked at the database of artical's in the MSW database..
This one might give you a good idea on where to start.
    http://modelshipworldforum.com/resources/Framing_and_Planking/plankingprojectbeginners.pdf
I use a sanding block that's 250mm long and 15mm wide for doing my models.( homemade for the job.. Just a block of flat wood with vees cut into the ends and a wedge to jam the sandpaper into place.)
Take your time on this part of the build..
