Golden Hind by Rock_From_Korea - 1:48
Baker replied to Rock_From_Korea's topic in - Build logs for subjects built 1501 - 1750
When I painted my Pelican/Golden Hind I found these possibilities. The number behind the examples indicates which way was most common. No painting (the word "niets" behind the examples) was actually the most common way. But, that's not much use to us model builders, not?? 😉 -

The same comment as always 😉. Great work Ondras 👍 -
It's been a while since I built a military model. So, here we go. This time it is an Italian Autoprotetto S37 General info https://tanks-encyclopedia.com/ww2/italy/Fiat_SPA_Autoprotetto_S-37.php Box and contents http://acemodel.com.ua/en/model/411 Start There's a lot of flash to the parts. This model is from a short run production, the mold was probably in service for a while when my model was cast the parts for the superstructure after much cleaning, sanding and fitting Engine compartiment (same problem) The worst part is over 😉

The last ropes from the main sail are attached on some drawings this line goes up to the bowsprit (arrow). So this became improvising (there was no more room left in this place) ... I think the rigging is done someone is happy 😉 The following months will be spent making swivel cannons, anchors and flags

The mizzen sail rigging is completed I took this image as an example. The "where and how" all these ropes are attached on deck is purely on "feeling and good luck" 😇 General overview Outrigger with rigging Martnets and outrigger Tack Lift with crow's feet Halyard and rope coils Had an idea to put some attributes on the deck. Nothing is glued yet, and it doesn't look like a good idea... Thanks for following comments and likes

Looks great 👍 -
A long time ago I learned to make molds at school. Our first, and only, mold that we had to make was of course much simpler 😉. I don't think it was technically possible, in that time, to provide these holes directly and at the right angle without the extra hawser pieces.

It is indeed an unusual method. But on the model in Berlin museum it is also this way http://www.wasadream.com/Index/indexenglish.html

I started riging the mizzen sail. The rest of the main sail rigging will be done after this. Preparations. Shaping of the sail is done on the mast itself (With an alert cat on the background...) zzzz.... 😇 This weekend the display case was adjusted. This case was designed a long time ago for military models only, not a wide sailing ship. The mizzen sail is attached. For now, the rigging of the mizzen is a mess. I have more ropes than attachment points to be continued 👍

I would go for white or wood color. I built my SR "out of the box" a long time ago, with a black bottom. that's the only thing i regret about my model

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
