  1. Progress its slow (now shrouds on last mast, mizzenmast), but still is going on. Soon going to start to prapere the sails filling them with wind.I hope GAC400 will do the trick.
  2. Thank you for the cleaning information. Yes there are two sizes of deadeyes on the model because there are two sizes on the ship it self. and thats because the in some parts like the mizzen mast and the top mast, have smaller dimensions and spaces. Ps. you did great job with the chainplates.... wish I have done such a good work.
  3. Shipyard has reopend since yesterday. Vacations are over 😣. Here we go again...
  4. Thats it! Dilbert55 its right. Christos ps. Do not sand again before ending the whole planking of the hull.
  5. hi RussR (ussr? 😀) I did received your mail. My box is not full. You got mail with the list of the colors. all the best Christos
  6. at last you are back again. fine work. looks nice! how did you dedust her? Did you used dustcleaner?
  7. well done Jeff. just about the sawdust. There are model wood fillers and putys. much handyier than sawdust. I am using this one, but there are a lot of such fillers and their colout can be easily altered using water-based dyes. It can be thinned with water and brushed on to fill wood grain. 1022 White Wood Filler White wood filler, very light, quick drying and sands easily, specially developed by Mantua. This filler is ideal for all wooden ships 100cc Part No: 1022 Price: £4.90 (Including VAT at 20%)
  8. Jeff I think Graham is right. And anyway a rotating power tool its essential for a build... I found out how essential that really is, only after my second build😅. There is s varaity in the market and the prices are inexpensive. Christos
  9. Keep the work up... some overtime is even allowed (thats if working over 3-4 hours a day), due to the fact that on Friday the shipyard will shutdown for two weeks.
  10. the idea of the boat leaving the ship its awesome... but do take care they return before ship departure. You know those guys... the other day they slept in the taverne for more than a few nights!
  11. Nils: thank you Nils. I do a lot of redos. You see its easy to make mistakes because of lack of expirience. The books we talked about are both a great help. The "Historic Ship Models" from W. Zu Mondfeld I got it from amazon de, it was half price of its english version.... have some trouble with the german terminology but its a great book!
  12. scale 1/89 doesnt need binding... drop of glue does the job holding the lines on shrouds.
  13. Shrouds are keep progressing... too slow... patience higly recomended 😅 Still its a nice feeling looking Hermione's rigging getting shaped.
  14. Figure on the capstan: Already did, this log page 6. I know what you meant saying "a large figure"... but yes as you see there is one that can still turn the huge capstan 😉 Yes there are a lot of errors in the instructions ( be carefull of the mast parts lengths, more than a few are given wrong in the instructions). But still I trust there procedures... believe me they are well studied and correct given. Anyway, I think your idea its challenging... I would also go for it. So good luck and please keep me informed, its good to know.
  15. Dilbert55: I cant tell if your idea is better or not than the instructions. Believe me I did it ecxactly by the A/L instructions and is easyier than it looks. The first few went slow, but then it became a piece of cake. Hard were the chainplates at the two stern channels. These are smaller and harder to get in hand. For that I used an even thinner brass wire so that I could bind it (or twist it )as a rope. Dont be afraid to follow the instructions. Out of my expirience, every time I tryied something else it has always prooven the AL instruct. as the better and easyier one. hope tha helps my friend Christos
