I created the square holes that the capstan bars are inserted, using Jon's technique (JGerson). Jon stated that he used a circular saw while doing these, I used my milling machine. -

Thank you Greg. I attached the sandpaper to a 10 mm diameter dovel using double-sided tape. I cut the piece of wood to the appropriate size, clamped it in a vice, and gave the piece this shape with the sandpaper I prepared. I will add a photo of the sandpaper I prepared tomorrow to this post. -

Thank you Greg. The dimensions of the stove are roughly 30x30 mm and the height is 30 mm. While making the stove, I used scrap wood pieces like pear, basswood and mahogany. Since I'm going to paint the stove black, they will all look the same in the end. -

I completed fixing all the guns on the gun deck with the breech ropes. The tackles of the gun carriages will wait for the other details of the gun deck to be finished, as the tackles will be attached to the eyebolts fixed to the knees of the spar deck beams. Today I started building the ship stove. Since the stove was not included in the kit plans, I made the manufacturing drawing myself, using the photos on the internet. The stove appeared with its outlines. Now I have details to add and eventually it will be painted black. -
I have just seen your build log. Welcome to the group. So far your structure seems very stable and going well. I also have a Constitution build in progress, but I'm making everything from scratch using only the kit plan, not MS' kit. Like Jon, I chose to add the gun deck and all the details and make the ship as it looks today. I will follow your build with interest. If you have any questions, I'd be happy to answer them.

Thank you Greg. I am using CA to secure the eyebolts into the bulwarks and wheels to the deck. I chose CA here because PVA has a long drying time. -

I don't think I can be as slow as you, Jon. -

Thanks so much Greg. Yes, this is not a race, it is a hobby. Rushing can make the job unpleasant. -

The holes in the bulwarks are for attaching the eyebolts of breeching ropes. I drilled them with a hand drill. It wasn't very easy, but I managed to do it thanks to my hands not being too big. It would have been much easier if I had drilled these holes before gluing the planks in place. -

I am attaching the breech ropes to the gun carriages. I'm almost half done. On the other hand, I'm producing rope, eyebolts and eyebolts with ring. That's why the progress is slow. -

Since I will have a lot of detail to do on the gun deck, you can easily beat me even if I don't go on summer vacation. -
I am watching your build with admiration. I use the method in the photo to stop ratlines from pulling the shrouds. I clamp the shrouds between two strips of appropriate width using clamps, so I can maintain the distance between the shrouds. These strips also help to keep distance between the ratlines same. You may want to try it in your future projects.

All cannons were mounted on the gun carriages and varnished. The next task will be rigging of the cannons. -

Ben de burada sizi gördüğüme sevindim. I have just seen the Felucca boat you completed. Even though it was your first built, I found it very successful. Do you have any other builds currently ongoing?

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
