  1. Thank you Jan, i just got book of R.Morton Nance. A lot of nice pictures there, i hope to use some i ideas. Now working on the back of the ship, placing ornaments, which necessary for planking. I dont know what do do with keel, its edge is not covered with wood, i might place some spare plank on it later. Few photos.

  3. Thank you Ken, appreciate that. Thank you for the help Amateur!, i will use the plan then. I see your pictures shows hawseholes are in the correct hight. Drawings not always correct, i noticed on the kit. Already noticed that gun carriages must be placed before placing second deck, it was not mentioned in the instruction. I will keep working on the planking, long way to go.
  4. Thank you for likes Scott, Bill! I will finish gun holes painting, when i have them all done. Today i find out one thing, on the front of the ship sheerstrakes are different on the plans and the pictures of the ship. I am not sure which is correct, i tend to use the plan, because it line up more nicely. Few photos.
  5. This is good idea make gratings before planking, you will get nice planking. Will you use varnish for deck finish or some oil?
  6. Started second layer hull planking. Does anyone knows if second layer plank edges near the gun holes should be painted in red or not? Now painted only inside metal parts. Few photos of my fun.
  7. Thank you Scott! My work on the stern. I noticed it is best to paint taffrail side strips before placing on the ship, they are really hard to paint as they are so curved.
  8. Thank you for likes! It is vintage kit, i got it already started, i got bulkheads already put together, was all dusty and started ages ago, sow it is 1978 years kit. Lantern glass was already glued as you can see in the photo. But i think it is not short of wood, i hope so! Though wood is very old and split very easy, i keep it in watter before bending. Working on the roof windows, made it scratch build, because given wood piece was too hard to drill it nicely. Few photos.
  9. Beautiful work on the rigging! Does it have ropes on the yards for sailors to stand on? I cant imagine climbing so hight there.
  10. Working on the gallery roof. It is made of hard wood, was using my simple file to make its form.
  11. Hello, when mounting my Lexington yards, i started from the biggest one, later used small piece of tape to stick it to the main mast and made first rigging to keep yard still.
  12. This is very nice work, i never used balsa for my build, i guess it holds planks from deformation really well. More is better then less on this work, as i noticed.
  13. Thank you Scott, it is not easy to make lantern look right, i still think to create it from bigger wood pieces, Creating fourth deck, i made two holes to reach wires when it needed. Few photos.
  14. Thank you Scott. Good to hear your shipyard works again. I am finishing third deck planking and grating. Today got small pico leds 9V and was trying to create small lantern. I want to place them near the masts to create some light on the deck.
  15. Good to see your shipyard working. Rigging looks so neat. Do you use some white glue to hold your ties?
  16. Hi all, working on the third deck. I am making ship according to the plans, all measures from the plans, it is not the easies thing, all build describe is not very accurate. Today noticed, third deck gun holes goes forward and the deck do not cover them correctly. Added few planks to the deck. Few photos of my work.
