Thanks Hubac's Historian for the clarifications. I have found patterns by using the BJ's plans for most of the sails, so I'll trace and duplicate. The reef points will be added from other model sails and some drawings. For some reason i can't PM, the option isn't there, I'll post to him later on this week and get some specifics from him. Really appreciate the help.

Going over his sail making Technic, it seems pretty straight forward. Hubac's Historian the tassels on his sails are what does confuse me. How do you figure out how many tassels goes on a individual sail for the ship? Luckily I do have one good image of one completed with sails as a reference: Mine does have four sail booms instead of three, so a few extra sails will have to be made as I also need the studding booms sails. What exactly did he use to color his sails as some details were abbreviated? Also how do you attach the tassels to the sails? I going to assume sewing them in? I would like to have some diagrams on the tassels as to length and size rigging to use also. With the image above at increased magnification it's not very clear for fine details but I can work with it. So far I haven't found a CSS Alabama with the studding boom sails actually mounted on a model representation so I'll be carefully working toward this end as not destroy all the other work involved. This kit is very fragile and is breaking in just basic rigging, so it's a very slow process. Hence my reason for asking so many questions so I can figure out a good installation procedure so not to back track and have to remove something already installed or break something in the process. Here's a couple images of the smaller added boats which will go on her in the finishing parts and piece's: Help on the sail making endevour would be appreciated, so any more Ideas or diagrams would be great. And of course I'll do research also. I should have the Bow-spirit done for basics by today and will post some more images soon. Might have to re-do my main mast rigging as it has pulled the mast strait and it needs to be at a better angle. Plus I'll be doing touch up painting. This model build will be a lot slower that what I originally thought so stay tuned and bear with me.

Beautiful work yvesvidal!! In the coming month I assume your going to put her under glass? Also what are you going to use for a mounting base?

Magnificent work!! I am curious as to what you would charge for a custom painting?

Excellent Hubac's Historian, and many thanks, will go threw this and have a go at it. Hopefully I can make some good representations as the total sail cost was going to be at 325.00 which included everything. Hadn't pulled the trigger on it yet and glad I didn't. Here's a couple quick images for progression:

Many thanks CapnMac82 for the information on the club spar. I had searched for many a nights trying to find out what it was called along with how to mount it properly. I'll have to use the small rope representation as shown in this image. (upper left corner)

Been busy with life's responsibilities, Popeye you are correct on the mistakes from the prints. There's a bunch of discrepancies in all the prints and I do reference what they say as to show the problems with them if someone else decided to build an Alabama for reference. With the copyright problem I won't be able to show all of them. This plan does come from the CSS Alabama Builders, Captian, and plans: Charles Grayson Summersell book: The upper small studding boom on the aft mast is what i was talking about for mounting. These are the only plans that show this small studding boom. I'll have some images soon for continued work and thanks for all the great comments and likes.

I have multiple plans for her as my blog here does have some posted. Bluejackets CSS Alabama plans are excellent and i am utilizing them for my build. You can get them at BJ's web site under CSS Alabama kit. Their plans are very detailed and are the best ones out there IMHO for a wooden build. Mine is the Revell 1/96 scale plastic kit which I am currently working on. You'll also see how I have discussed the discrepancy in all the prints I have. Here's the blog for your reference:

Thanks to all the responses and likes, here's a current update as work continue's on this build. Plans, plans , plans ...... going over multiple plans for blocks and tackles along with rigging possibilities I have a consensus of historical lines for the masts and ship rigging. I will be adding multiple lines for her as to really accent the rigging work along with multiple colors and sizes to bring the definitions out. Here's some of the plans which will be incorporated: Also utilizing the Blue Jacket prints, a total of 11 plans along with Syren blocks and tackles. The preliminary mast yards are complete and will be adding the blocks to each one with extra blocks for the sails to be mounted to also. I have been going threw the sail installation plans and will probably be adding them as some will be custom made which will take some time and adds a couple of months to the build but will look nice with all the sails and the boom sails added. I have been going threw the sail building procedures here at MSW which are very informative but I am going to subcontract out the added sails. They will run about $200.00 completed but will be detailed out and done from a professional sail maker. Here's a couple mast work images for comparisons: I have gotten a generic representation of the top mast yard mounting for the main mast which you can see in the upper left corner of the bottom image represented. Also another painting of the Alabama giving chase.

Does anyone have historical information on attaching this smaller mast ( See image) Diagrams would be appreciated as I would like it to be historical accurate. Thanks!

Small update for the fore and main top sail studding booms and the fore and main top gallant studding sail booms also, touch up painting will need to be done on all of them along with added mounting hardware from BJ. All of the studding boom mast hardware are scratch built and all are completed for the associated masts. Then all the rigging blocks which will be awhile as research has some problems on placement and types. Plus scratch built gaffs imaged also. Early model of CSS Alabama made from one of the crew during her history.

Thanks, wondering if you might have any images of your model you built? Semmes was an honorable gentleman as he tried very hard as to not kill any of the occupants during his ship raids. From my research very few were killed during the Alabama's life, excluding her last battle with the Kearsarge.

Superb craftsmanship, I will incorporate your skill and procedures for my builds in the future. Appreciate the step by step images. You should think on the lines of selling these anchors in different sizes as they are exquisite. Or maybe offer them as a needed basis from modelers wanting this style and level of detail.

Got tied up with life responsibilities but here's a short update. Been working on the extension boom masts from scratch building work. Their a little time consuming but turning out ok. I have 4 more to go and then the mast work will almost be completed. Will add the wooden booms and the eight secondary extension parts also. I'll show a couple when finished with them completely. I'll paint them black as they are aluminum and probably have to prime them first. Might just leave them silver for extra contrast...what do you guys think? Also "Happy Forth of July" for my American modeler friends. May we always remember those whom sacrificed all to give us our blessings of American life and liberty!

CDW, these are from the 2006 kit release from what I understand. Glad to help as I have done a extensive amount of research on Kearsarge for a possible future build. Also BlueJacket does have their plans for sale at their website if you want to advance the build in detailing. Here's build blog from MSW : I do have some Naval Museum model images if you want them. Amazing that the kit is still in such great shape for the parts and pieces, watch for cracking on some of them as my Alabama does have cracking on the hull and some pieces just broke in my hands. Looks like yours won't have that problem from what I see, so just a heads up as a possibility.
