Happy Birthday my friend, hope you and Mobbsie stay out of trouble. Sorry if this is late, we are traveling again and internet is not good in most areas. Currently on the California - Oregon border. We have traveled 4,000 miles so far. Have fun and enjoy your day! John

Hello my friend, I knew you could meet the challenge! Mines, and torpedo are awesome as usual. Congrats....we'll all have to think of some challenging projects for the finish! We are in Monterey, California today. Off to Carmel and Pebble Beach tomorrow. Hope all is well with you and Gwen. I've toasted a couple of Leffe Blonds your direction, but internet has been scarce on our travels, so you couldn't see me! Keep up the good work, and Papa would be and is very proud.

Hello dear friend, good to see your work again. I haven't given up, I've just been traveling in the New Mexico mountains. We are off to the west coast this year, should be back in Sept or Oct. As usual, stunning work, details make the model as you well know. I love your details as usual I'm always amazed at your metal work. Hope you and Gwen are doing well and health is improving. Prayers are with you continuously. Keep up the good work!

As usual my friend, you keep me in awe of your metal work (all the rest too) but metal is wild. Very nice. All is well here, leaving in about 10 days for the west coast. I pray for you daily dear friend, and hope you are ok. More later.

Hello just checking in....all is well. Hope all is well with you. Short on time, so I noticed you are thinking about your cranes...for a cable, Walmart sells different woven wire for fishing lures and leaders....might find what you need there. Check you later.

Hello and congrats are in order for a magnificent build. Just checking in when I heard you had progressed this far. I'll be back in the yard in a while, probably after our trip out west. I'm still watching you guys even though I'm not participating at the time. What's next??? Do you have one picked out? Good luck Bro' ... she's really fine...

Hi Bob, I'm missing pictures too.....did something happen to the site that we are unaware of? This seems to have happened to quite a few logs. I had a discussion with Chuck a number of months ago about backups. He seemed very confident that things like this should not occur. Has anyone had discussions with some of the moderators about this problem? Looks like we're not alone...Thanks....John

Oddly enough, that was one of my new toys last week also. No wonder mine was on back order for so long...you guys bought em out. Some day I'll get to try mine out....right now it's just staring at me and whining!

Hi guys, unfortunately due to some life issues, I find it necessary to put the ship on hold for a while. I will be leaving the Forum for a while, but will return later in the year. Thanks for all of your support....mybe it's the curse of the Morgan...people get to this stage and it doesn't get finished. I'll be back in touch when I can....signing off for now. John

Well, I haven't made it into the shipyard yet, but there is still hope, if not then tomorrow. For anyone who might have an interest in Naval artifacts, I have listed and will list many more items for the USS Enterprise CVAN-65, and the USS John F Kennedy CVA-67. These are from my private collection and are very collectable to anyone with an interest. These are listed on eBay under "USS Enterprise CVAN-65" and will be the same for the Kennedy.

Yes Michael, I've had all the temblers I want to experience. I lived in Woodland Hills during the Northridge quake, 2 miles from Cal State Northridge which was the epicenter. I got a print from a friend who worked in the geological part of the school and it was of all the seismographs in each zip code of LA county, and our zip was a 9.5. He said they average all of the machines to come up with the readings. If it went over 7.0 then all kinds of Federal rules apply for aid....therefore 6.9 was the Northridge number....rigged????? Anyway, it was very violent thrust fault...he said we were pitching in a 3 foot diameter circle, 15 times per second for 45 seconds...go figure....I came back to Texas...

Hello everyone, well, I am going to try to get a little work done in shipyard tomorrow....no promises since I do have some other things to do, but hopefully....if not then Wednesday. I have been waiting for a couple of new toys to come in and they all finally made it today. I am anxious to try them out. I'm planning to rework the anchors, and then start in on the masts and deadeyes and chain plates, and then go from there. It is approaching travel time again, and with the earthquakes in LA rethinking our trip. Might go east again and wait on sourthern Cal and the west coast. I only rethink the L.A. part because I was in the Northridge quake in 94 and that is why I left LA.....I was 3 miles from the epicenter, then last year in Costa Rica for the 7.9 quake.....don't like them....see you soon, and hopefully some pictures....

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
