  1. Excellent, crisp and clean, a joy to watch Glenn. Your redo is virtually invisible, very nice planking.
  2. A small update, the gaff? sail is rigged and set, I've got to make some cleats to tie the ropes to the quality of the sails is not great, but as neither the Admiral or I have a sewing machine they will have to do. One more sail to do, then the detail pieces, harpoons etc and I'll be done. Thanks for the likes and visiting. Cheers
  3. and welcome to MSW.
  4. welcome to MSW😉

  6. Yay! Winnie's hull is planked! Once I've sanded it, I shall fit the second layer of wales. I didn't darken the plank edges, for the caulking, I forgot to do it at the beginning and thought it would look odd with 2 thirds done, so forgive me for that lapse This part could have been tidier, so I'm hoping the moulding strips will hide the worst of it😬. I'm now waiting for a nice dry day to take her out on the back yard to sand her smooth. Thanks for the likes, comments, critique and just passing by. Cheers
  7. Good afternoon, the clinker planking on HRU is coming on, though, again I'm using wood glue not CA, so only getting one strake per side each session, 6 on altogether. Thanks for your interest, comments and likes. Cheers
  8. Hi all, progress is extremely slow, rigging the sails and only spar is proving to be a challenge. The instructions are, to say the least, very sparse! and not very helpful, I've been checking out the other build logs on here and getting slowly to grips! Thanks for looking in and the likes. Cheers
  9. Phew! What a lot to catch up on! I need more time😏 The instrument panel is excellent EG, very nice intricate brush work! PS, I've sent out for more brittle Lou😊
  10. Roger, do you mean on the hull or inside? Although from the photos I have of the boat, the planking looks to be standard clinker and all the internal planking is painted so I'm not sure wether it's diagonal or not.
  11. welcome to MSW Dan
  12. I'm in, a bit late, but a couple of hammocks in the rafters and some nut brittle! I'm glad you're revisiting this plane EG, looking forward to the new edition, with the enhanced bare metal finish. Onwards indeed😉
  13. I have been doing a little bit on the Whaleboat in-between starting the lifeboat and trying to finish planking Winchelsea. The rudder and the rowlocks are done, the oars are nearly done, they do need a paint touch up! And the only blocks on the boat are rigged and placed. I've used two of my early homemade blocks because I don't like the ones supplied with the kit. Thanks for looking in and the likes 👍 Cheers
  14. With our rain this weekend, I've got time on HRU. the framework for the flotation compartments is constructed, the bulwark benches will fit on the top of the frame and the inner parts will be planked. the bracing timbers across the top will be removed when the glue is cured. With the glue dry, I have begun to plank over the bilge. Thanks for commenting, the likes or just glancing in. Cheers
  15. Nice job EG, same as Ken, I like them both but the "evac" version just pops for me! Onwards to the next project 😁
  16. welcome to MSW
  17. welcome to MSW Capn. A stunning model of Victory, the WW2 battleship and sub are also amazing.
  18. As the other guys have said, and we'll all be here waiting. Take care!
  19. To try and dig up some more information on HRU, I sent an email to the secretary of the Heritage Centre, who replied with some unexpected Historic Ships UK surveys from 2010 and 2016Lifeboat Henry Ramey Upchur PDF (1) (2).pdf I must admit to ignorance of the Stiffkey Rescue Wooden Boats, as I've only ever passed through Stiffkey enroute to Holkham and beyond😔. I've since checked out the website! I only discovered her about 10ish years ago, when I realised what I thought was just a boatshed, was in fact the Fisherman's Heritage Centre. Glad to have you aboard. The build is progressing as the framework is now glued. I am working at making the flotation compartments that are under the bulwark benches. I'll post some photos when I have the framework for these fixed. Thanks for your interest and the likes. Cheers
  20. welcome to MSW Lars.
