Kit recommendations based on a request.
Edwardkenway replied to Guybrush's topic in Wood ship model kits
In one naval/seafaring novel I've read the smugglers kept one or two long guns on deck as chase guns probably 6 or 9 pdrs to try and disable the chasing revenue or RN vessel, but otherwise I would think a few swivels would be adequate to give a smuggler a bit of firepower. My twopence worth🙂 -
Echoing the build request, it would be interesting to see your steam cutter.

That approaches sacrilege, but whomever owns it will have riches enough not to care, I know if I had one I'd be scared to take it on the road in case I got it dirty 😃 -
The paints are opened and pieces sorted, construction begins!! I'm in two minds whether to watch from the easy chairs or the hammocks, as Lou says they're really comfortable 😄 I like the idea of a waterline setting😉 Happy building brother!

Fantasy Figures for Warhammer Games by Edwardkenway
Edwardkenway replied to Edwardkenway's topic in Completed non-ship models
It's basically tabletop wargaming with fantasy armies, set in the Games Workshop Warhammer World. Turn based combat, movement and missile fire. The rules can be figured to suit most historic periods from ancients to horse and musket/black powder era. For great war onwards Warhammer 40,000 could be utilised.😉 -

Yep, if the dice were kind those crazy fanatics could devastate even the best troops although they could also do the same to your own troops😁 -

I think I think maybe it's because of the shared heritage between the British and American culture that it's marketed as Tudor or Elizabethan as that is what was the main building style in the UK at that time and perhaps some of the first migrants to "New England" took the style with them. Also when looking at medieval architecture in europe it seems most old world countries used similar techniques, if the wood was available as in the 14th century bricks were an expensive building material. Other villagers may be able to add extra information 🙂

Very Nice job Craig, your cabinet is beginning to look like a very upmarket exclusive automobile showroom 😉 -
At home today because of the rain, so thought I would make the bowsprit. Using my cordless drill and sandpaper I have got a basic shape also painted the windlass supports and the skylight body still got to make the ratchet and the bowsprit bits, which I'm thinking of putting the pal for the windlass on. Thanks to the encouraging comments and the likes. Cheers 😉

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
