Looking fine Glenn, the deck is going to be great with the slight curve and tapered planking. Very nice, and very neat workmanship 😁

I found that Homebase stocks the Ronseal poly varnish, in gloss, satin and matt, Wickes also do a satin poly varnish but only in 2.5ltr tins.

Ah! but now they have huge screens following the action on the parts you can't see, well over here in the UK anyway, but I would of thought the US does as well. -

Kit recommendations based on a request.
Edwardkenway replied to Guybrush's topic in Wood ship model kits
In one naval/seafaring novel I've read the smugglers kept one or two long guns on deck as chase guns probably 6 or 9 pdrs to try and disable the chasing revenue or RN vessel, but otherwise I would think a few swivels would be adequate to give a smuggler a bit of firepower. My twopence worth🙂 -
Echoing the build request, it would be interesting to see your steam cutter.

That approaches sacrilege, but whomever owns it will have riches enough not to care, I know if I had one I'd be scared to take it on the road in case I got it dirty 😃

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
