  1. Thank you so much Jo, it means a lot to me. I have put off modeling for too long and didn't know how much fun it would be to share on forums and make new friends. This is GREAT! This Arizona kit is very old and like Revell's Constitution many have built it before or many times. I wanted to build this diorama as the USS Arizona is now and as accurately as I can. I did visit her in 1973, when I was 12, (opps, dating myself) and was deeply affected. So, many years later, I will honor that memory and those who served her.
  2. Thanks, Jo It's one of those, very big plans for a very small model. You encouragement will motivate me to keep working on her. Shane
  3. Once again, you're doing a great service to an older kit. Great upgrades and fantastic photos, we can all learn from your example. I have to ask, in one of the photos in post #13 there is a ship in the background, what ship is that?
  4. Jo, I agree with Ulises, hard to believe this is your first build. No candy coating, this is fantastic work. Look forward to the hull paint job. Shane, Ziggy, Ziggy, Shane What's in a name?
  5. Great work and wonderful research. Question, to you Greg or any navy guys, I am wanting to model WWII survivors and wanted to know what measure was used for post-war Spring of 1946?
  6. Can't wait to see more! I plan on kibashing a 1/350 scale USS Hornet into the USS Enterprise someday, I'm sure I can learn some tips and tricks from your build.
  7. I had started watched your build some time ago, and now I'm a member and gave you some likes. This is the first time I commented and hope you have found the time to work on your 'Connie'. I would love to see an update.
  8. Jo Once again, you are doing a GREAT job. I love the deck and furniture colors. I think your boat is better looking than the box art for the kit! Shane
  9. I will watch your build closely. I have already learned something about the 20mm/40mm's as I will need many when I work on my 1/350 USS Idaho in the future. Good fortune and can't wait to see more.
  10. Started working on the layout, measuring and making a cutout for the mud line, also worked on the hull and the rear/aft deck.
  11. Yikes, she may have been declawed but she still has fangs! Peter, quit while your ahead and don't mess with fire.
  12. No worries Jo, I wrote it that way on purpose, but it did need the bold because it was also a complement. Love the way the barrels turned out. And just so you know, Popeye/Denis is a great modeler and a great guy.
  13. Jo, Thank you for your comment. Keep up the great work, I can't wait to see more. Please see edit on earlier post. Shane
  14. Jo, I have been watching your build for some time now. I have given you some ‘likes’ along the way, but I think it is time to make a comment. I think you are a true asset to this forum. You are a very playful kitty cat and we both share a common sense of humor that leans to the dark side. I think that some of the guys have praised your work, expecting to say good job when in fact it is not, however, I do not think you truly realize how good your work is. It is fantastic! You should be very proud of yourself. Most modelers early works are destine to be dusty in the back corner of the display case. I think this build will be center stage for some time to come. Shane
  15. I have slowly been working on the rear deck and barbette portion of the forward deck. And, a fellow modeler sent me some photo etch to use on my dock and memorial. Thanks, Denis!
