  1. Love the case and the model!! Wonderful display!! Very impressive!! Rick
  2. Looks great Keith, can definitely see the shape of Cangarda’s hull!! Very sleek looking! By the way, she is still outside on her stands, all wrapped up in plastic sheeting. Rick
  3. Looks good George!! I can’t imagine 2 uilds simultaneously. WOW! Rick
  4. George, Thanks for the info. I looked up K and S metals and they don’t offer thin copper sheet either. I did find some thin copper sheet on Amazon .3 mm which is about.01 inches(I think, I hope ?). I ordered some , it’s supposed to be pure copper which I find easier to use than brass so we’ll see! Thanks again for getting back to me, I’ve been rereading your blog as I very slowly progress with the masts and yards. You did a truly amazing job on your Fish! Rick
  5. George, How did you do your mast bands? Are they brass or copper? Soldered? Thanks, Rick
  6. Really coming along George. I’m enjoying following your build just as I did with the Flying Fish! Rick
  7. Thanks Rob for your input. I agree with you and I intend to place bands on the Mizzen Rick
  8. Thanks EdT and Rob for your input. I’m leaning towards placing bands on the Mizzen per both the China trade painting and the Buttersworth painting. What is the likelihood that both artists would include bands if they were not there? Thanks EdT for your thoughts that bands on a single tree mizzen would contribute to its strength. That was my thought also. Rick
  9. John, Sending best wishes for a full recovery. Certainly understand the frustration when results don’t match expectations. Just keep moving forward and be patient. Redo things any time you think can do better and accept that some things are as good as you can do. As George says, we are much harder on ourselves, no body will see the mistakes that we see. I have found that with time, I like my results betters than when I first made something as nothing ever seem to match my expectations. Look forward to you getting back to the Fish . Rick
  10. WOW Clipperfan, glad everyone is Okay, hope you have used up all your bad luck and only have good luck going forward. Rick
  11. Truly magnificent!! I had a heck of a time tying off the lanyards on the bowsprit rigging at 1/8 inch scale. I can’t imagine how you accomplished that at an even smaller scale! Very impressive, all of it!! Rick
  12. Yes, but it sure looks dark blue or black from a distance. Rick
  13. Keith, I have it on good authority, my son-in-law, who is a boat captain and spends a lot of time at front Street shipyard where Cangarda is currently, says it is definitely a very dark green by a company called Awlgrip. It’s their darkest green. Rick
