  1. Oh dear Sjors I saw six photos and thought.....................................!!! I am blaming the fact that I haven't been drinking The Endeavour has five One on each mast and a second storey on the fore and main masts Sent from my iPad. Laying on the bed. Watching golf.
  2. Those tops are looking real nice Sjors I will be doing mine before too much longer They look quite similar to yours I think Not sure I have quite as many though
  3. Bit more adding stuff today Threading rope through and knotting in places that sometimes turn the air blue Fixing the anchors mainly and some rope I am not sure the use of Starting to look very busy at the front Getting close to the deck being done, then it's on to the masts Looking at others builds, especially Slogs, I do feel a little inadequate sometimes Then I come back down to earth and say "****** it, what do I expect"
  4. So perfect I am taken aback by the skill and excellence of the build and hang my head in shame a bit when I look at mine Fantastic work Slog I am not worthy
  5. You are making a superb job here It is amazing how we all interpret our builds differently You are making some lovely scratch build parts I rely almost exclusively on the kit Mostly because I have no equipment any more to make scratch parts And building in the bedroom does limit you somewhat
  6. Well I got the bowsprit finished I must get a sheet of something as a background The loops to hold the first yard weren't quite right so I will have to have a think about that I know they are mostly held in place with the ropes though The ribs and trucks went perfect and I think they look good left as they are I did get rid of the one dark one I had in the middle there I think I am pretty tight for numbers with those Back to the boat tomorrow to get a lot more fitted to her I hope the nozzles come soon so I can get on with the Will
  7. Beautiful work Grant Those blocks are absolute gems Superbly made Well done Grant
  8. Hi Adriaan Looking at your photo then the one above, it certainly looks as if the doors do need to be proud Also if, as you say, it may damage the substructure if you attempt to rebate them, sticking them on has to be the way to go
  9. Hard at work again A rest from the ship I am doing the larger of the bowsprit yards Before The drill is there to make sure the blocks holes are clear After I have the loop of rope going between the two halves of the mast to attach this yard I personally find this sort of work harder than ratlines by a long way Especially with the thick stubby fingers I possess Friends marvel at how I can do anything like this with my fingers
  10. Beautiful work Steve They look really good I only hope mine will look half as good I will try my best
  11. Looking really nice Sjors I am so envious of those thin straight paint lines  I wish I had your steady hands Oh what it must be like to be still so young
  12. Hi Adriaan I did a bit of work on your photo in PS It looks a bit better but it's not got enough pixels to do more Questions Is you camera on it's highest settings??? And do you use Macro????? Had another look at the photo and I am not sure about which is best Maybe if you do take a better photo Good luck
  13. Yes Sjors has a very good idea I will try and price up the acrylic sheets, the silicone and a piece of wood for the base though The Admiral would like the Endeavour in a case And we wouldn't want to upset the Admiral would we Great planking as usual BTW
  14. As they say Adam Ratlines are a personal thing as there is several ways of completing them You will find your own way after a while It is a very touchy freely thing I would definitely countenance the template to give you something to work to but then it is all down to look and feel They are easy to remove if you make a mistake as long as you don't make use of glue that some people do This is one thing I would steer clear of glue on Good luck when you come to do it
  15. I agree with Sjors as well David That's a good way to do it The gun ports look great The build is coming along very nicely
  16. Thanks a lot Sjors That looks fine I think if I blacked the ribs it wouldn't stand out any more I think I will leave them as they are Thanks again
  17. Hard at work today with mostly small stuff Stuck some rings into the hull and then did something very fiddly The steering gear (Helm) That actually went a little better than expected If anyone who doesn't know how to thread blocks I dab of CA on the tip and twist it fine Then use at least three hands and various tweezers I then went back to the bowsprit I don't know if what I did was right, or if indeed there is a right way I spot glued the deadheads and dead blocks to the mast and then wrapped rope over I think it looks fairly neat and pleases me The cleats and chocks were of course easy A drop of CA on some paper and a set of tweezers As you can see I also did the anchors and the boat/launch supports Cripes 19.40 and there's golf on I am in overtime
  18. No, sorry Sjors The black and silver rolley things The ribs and trucks on the Corsair
  19. Hey that is some expense Adriaan Would bring all the models very nicely together though With the lighting as well they would look beautiful I have plans to build an acrylic one with silicone I did build an aquarium some time ago and that is all a display case is A dry aquarium
  20. Got any photos Sjors ??? I would appreciate a look if you have Obviously I have the ones in the instructions but I would like to see how they look when done by one of us
  21. Loads of things to stick on I think I am about half way through  Cleats, rings, rope holding down the cupboard, the blocks for the steering gear Still got rings and stuff to put on the outside of the hull I am still waiting for the chains as they were out of stock but CMB are expecting them in tomorrow I had a bit of a rest from sticking to wrap some rope round the bowsprit I really didn't fancy the brass hoops they said to put on On all the other masts they are rope so why brass on the bowsprit If it's an awful mistake I just don't care The brass hoops would have been a ******* to do anyway Finally, my guitar kit is on the way I won't be able to do to much when it arrives because I broke myself buying it But as soon as I have saved up for whatever finish I decide to give it I have an idea what I want it to look like I just need the experts to tell me how to do it
  22. Thanks a lot Adriaan Yes you certainly have a good point there I could put a bit of tape round to protect the wood I will try it out
  23. No, certainly got no brown beads Tom Got a lot of colours from when I used to make my own flies, but they are all mostly bright I think black may be the best but if anyone has any thoughts please feel free to speak
  24. Nice looking bit of planking Adriaan Soon all start coming together I guess This is gonna be one big ship Have you a place for it ready??? And are you going to build a case for it I ask as I think I am going to do one myself for the Endeavour and am therefore interested in techniques
  25. Urgent question as I cannot make a decision The parallel ribs and trucks as they are called in the instructions They allowed the yards to be moved up and down the masts I have blackened one of the ribs so you can compare I was thinking that if I blackened them it would all be black But is that a problem I need some opinions I can't find what I need in my book or Google So, all black or silver and black???????????? Here's a photo to give you an idea out the instructions
