Hi Michael. I have just finished looking at your log. I started looking last night around 8 ish and again before work this morning-4.30 till 5.45 and got there late!! Again at 5.30 when back home until now-7.30. Was it worth it? Too right as this has been one of the best builds I have seen, The mods and all are terrific and it has been a pleasure. Kind regards, Ron. I'll now try and look at some other builds on this site while cooking our supper. I hope my boy's will be patient!!!

Ah, I see what you mean and thank you for the quick reply Giam. (Or at least I think I understand: Do you "oscilate"" the wood over the flame of the candle while holding between thumbs and fingers and gently bending said wood over the heat)? And can I call you Giam?? Ron.

Hi Giam. Can you tell me how you managed to bend the ebony without it splitting/breaking please? Do you soak it, heat it? I have tried in the past and just ended up with a lot of scrap wood, a bad temper and then ending up staining some wood to simulate ebony! Not the result I wanted. Kind regards, Ron.

Hi Mick. Don't use the plastic parts supplied as this is what happens. (The wind from a passing fly pharting and it's down)! I found that with the gaps between the deck and frames, and that with a bit of careful measuring of the deck planks lengths, that there was no real problem. I can not recall the word for this strip but I used a thin piece of wood (after planking the deck), on the planking and against the side. One thing I did find very annoying and frustrating was constructing the brass rudder (rod) mechanism that connects to the rudder and goes into the wheel-house. IMHO there is no need to do as per drawing but you may find a better way to do so. Hope this make sense and that it might help. Kind regards, Ron.

Definately a good idea with the boats. Makes it so much easier to get a "scale" of the ship. -

I feel that I had better say to all you ship builders that all of the builds on this amazing site are truely inspirational and that I have a long, long way to get anywhere near to you artists. It's just that Juan's really caught my eye. Many kind regards to all of you. Ron.
