  1. that's the spirit!......the offer will still stand though......just let me know. my friend sent me his sails for the bluenose he's working on. it has eight sails. no reef lines though.....that's a relief. I got them all cut out.....ready for the sewing machine.......work in progress thanks for the good word, my friend!
  2. your back at it Sjors......that's what counts! they look great! just keep thinking to yourself......."I only have a hundred or so left to go!"
  3. looking good Mark........resorcefulness is the mother of invention
  4. good to see an update Phil....looks really nice, it'll be a treat to see it on the build wish I could help you with your question.
  5. very cool how you show the changes that a few years makes. ships are refitted many times in their lifetime......look at the Cutty, for instance. wonderful work indeed!
  6. thanks for posting this here.......even though the build is finished, I am enjoying your process very much. superb looking framework.
  7. they've probably seen it........it in the background in some of the pictures.......LOL! it's still our secret augie....we share the interest thanks popjack.......I have two tables on one side of our computer room. I go as far as I can on one build, until I have to let it dry.....then I go on to another build. I juggle the steps as I go. everyone has a different method.....for me, this works well, because while I'm working on one build, I come up with ideas for the others.........this way I don't lose my train of thought. yes, this works extremely well as far as paint goes.....I like to let things dry overnight....plenty of time for the paint to cure. if you do decide to try it, I would suggest keeping the builds pretty much the same scale.......takes away one aspect to worry about. the one thing to remember......if you enjoy what your doing, it will always remain fun. thanks for looking in on my builds......glad you enjoy them.
  8. tough break! not a problem for you though........she looked like that when you started.............I know, not funny you can fix it.....I've seen what you can do
  9. I would never had picked it out.......very nice job on the second planking. so glad to see an update
  10. Yea, I have to redo my signature.....it doesn't give the whole picture. the Lobsie twins are pretty much finished.....the AmericA is very close to being finished. there is one side project that I'm doing...a Guillow's spitfire....waiting for paint at the moment. whoops, gotta go......work time!
  11. that would have been my dad......except his venacular would have been slightly different....LOL! mum was the one that always stood by what I did......but I hear you though. did a bit more on the AmericA.....even though during a work week, I never do. I'll have an update soon........on something
  12. thanks Aldo.........only one thing left to add to the Phylly C.....that's it after that, I can post them in the finished forum. these two were fun to do
  13. I did a bit more with this build.....mainly cementing the deck platforms in place. the bow rabbits are now in place. the stern deck platforms for that small section of bow decking that I had made, I noted that it was level with the main deck platform. a short length of square stock was cemented in place, as a locator for the decking. the fore castle decking was also cemented in place at this time. after adding in two other short pieces of square stock in to support it......this bow decking was cemented in place. there are some parts that need to be added to the stern transom, that will give it a distinct shape. they were cemented in place. one thing I do notice with this kit, is that it lacks any sort of ribbing, that will aide in giving shape to the bow planking. the rabbit shown, will be exposed.....trapping the planking behind it, instead of being used to affix the planking to it. this I will have to experiment with.
  14. thanks Micheal......you can call me either I hardly ever did multiple builds when i worked with plastic.........I find wood builds to be more time consuming, with waiting time a bit longer....for things to dry. as mentioned, it's a great diversion, and I get to stay busy. yes Anja {and Sjors}....I did get the pictures and stuff you sent to me. I haven't had a chance to go through it all yet.......I have plenty of time though I look forward in seeing you continue with your build hi Andy! not much left to do with the AmericA........next will be the Gothenborg. the half Moon, for the moment, is merely for the smell of wood, and the making of sawdust. thanks Aldo.......there's a bit of scratch work to do on this bad girl......but I've been there before, so it should not be too bad. it's still early yet in the build.......lots of neat planking.
  15. hey there Borge.......good to see your post looking forward in seeing the ideas you were talking about
  16. absolutely beautiful Kats..........very glad to see you back at it. do be careful though!
  17. nawww.......it's the other way around.....LOL! I'm just kidding though. but, I am close towards getting back to the Goth. got a few other aspects I want to get on the deck, and a bit more moldings for the stern........then I can work on the masting. lots of planking on the Half Moon, so that will definitely break the tension. I'll look forward to seeing some progress on your build......but please do it when you feel absolutely ready.
  18. too funny Mobbsie...........I've just begun I figure that by the time I get most of the planking done {there's a lot of it}, I should be well on the way with the Gothenborg.........masting and rigging {the yards probably won't be up by then.......I'm not that good}. it should be fun though.....especially having to make all these missing parts. thanks for the good word, my friend!
  19. I'll keep that in mind Sjors........I'm sure Anja would love to assist thanks Sherry........story of my life got into this habit early.........build and paint, then let it sit to dry with nothing to do. so I'd work on another build until I can get back to what I was doing. the wharf is a busy place glad to have you looking in.
  20. looking sweet Michael.....congrats on your appointment!
  21. I knew I had this build in my watch list...........just an echo to the fine job your doing with her. don't know if you saw my offer........you want sails, I'd be happy to make them for you. no fee.........just a smile will do!
