I finally was able to get some work done on the Volvo today. I started by closing in the cabin top and companionway , I then finished up the steering wheel for the Starboard side steering station ( and pinted it to match the Port side ). I then varnished over the logos , and painted the cabin top red and companionway white ( I will be putting a logo over the companionway entrance ) Here are the results

Hi Nils, Beautiful boat , Nice lines , I she the same length as Michael Mott's Cutter ? I as well love the Crusing sailboats, I have been working on a 24 foot double ender in 1/2" = 1' - 0" scale , she is 21 feet on deck and will have a 3 foot Bowsprit. she is based on the Bobert Perry designed Ta- shing Baba 30 as well as the pacific seacraft boats that Lyle Hess designed. I have been working on her, on and off for about 2 months. here is what she looks like as of today Best Regards, Pete

Hi Dave, She is lookig good, I have used the method that Nigel has described above , however I use a Hand drill ( I have detroyed too many models with power tools ) Best Regards, Pete -
Thanks Tom, I used a elmers white glue to attach the logos , I did a bunch of testing with different glues and the standard white glue worked best . ( unfortunatly it's not water proof , so varnishing over the logos should keep them waterproof. Thanks Michael, its amazing how the Keel works like that, allowing you to keep maximum sail up ( someone made alot of money on that idea ) Best Regards, Pete

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
