    Hi Bob Wow!!! She's a beauty! I love how beautifully you've executed the rigging and all the brass fittings in the mast and spar. That's something for me to definitely aspire to with my models, that's for sure. The exposed cabin roof is fantastic....after all, why cover up all the great work and effort that you put into the internal furnishings of the cabin. You gotta be pretty pleased with yourself.     Hi everyone Thanks for everyone's comments and Likes, all of which are greatly appreciated. I had some real issues with the consistency of the Matt blue paint that I had originally used for the underwater half of the hull. For some reason, it just refused to flow nicely off the brush, leaving brush marks and otherwise marring the finish. I even thinned the paint, but it still looked like crap! So, reluctantly, I changed the colour to Matt red, which was much nicer to used and produced a much better finish. I also reached a milestone by being able to fabricate the huge oval shaped cabin. It wasn't easy to build by a long shot, as, not only was it a completely curved structure, but it also had multiple rectangular windows in it. I proceeded carefully when building it and, although it may not look like much now, once it has the roof beams, planks and all the other fixtures and fittings on it, I reckon it'll look pretty spiffy!     Hi Ben Lots of nice progress, that's for sure! I especially like the engine. I do, however, know what you mean with the fairing....it just seems to never end; but once it's all smooth and even, then you can sit back and say "Okay, what's next?"     Hi everyone Many, many thanks for all of your comments and feedback! I'm also struck by Vaddoc, Mike and Carl's comments because, I feel the same way about looking at their's and everyone else's models on MSW, somehow, the crap and stress of work just melts away. Mark, Pete, David, Bob, Nils, Ben, Marty, a special thanks to all of you guys as well, because, your input spurs my motivation and enjoyment of building. All the best for the week! Cheers Patrick

    Hi Mark I definitely agree with your comment about "everything having a purpose", because I was struck by the very same thing when I built my models of Bounty, Victory, Lennox and Pandora. Everything in each of those ships served a precise purpose and to think that these were built in the days before computers, machines, etc. The ingenuity and skill of those shipwrights was truly astonishing, particularly given the technology of the day..     Hi everyone It may have been a few days since my last update, but, things have moved ahead steadily. For instance, Symphony now has the planked floors installed inside her hull, in readiness for the cabins and bulkheads, etc. I've also built the deck. Notably, when you see the deck, you'll notice that Symphony has a huge oval shaped cabin, as witnessed by the size of the oval in the deck. At the aft of the deck, you'll also notice a much smaller oval shape, which, eventually will become the seating area for the helmsman and other crew, etc. I hope you enjoy the photos. Cheers Patrick

    Hi Nils Great job so far. I recall that you were concerned that some of the frames may need adjustments but you needed to have them assembled before you could really tell if that was the case. Now that your frames are assembled, do you think you need to do much adjustments to their shapes, or were they spot on? Also, judging by the expression on your Admiral's face, I can tell that she was as proud as punch with what you've done so far. I would be as well! Another thing that struck me was the complex shape of the aft frames, particularly the way they're shaped to compensate for the propeller shafts. I'd imagine that planking around there would be fun! All in all, a major milestone reached! Look forward to more. Cheers Patrick

    Hi Jerry That's some pretty impressive winch work you've got there! I also must say, that I reckon she looked damn fine on the water....in fact, I reckon she owned the whole stage. Nicely done.     Hi Vaddoc I'm sorry about the bits of overspray and the bleeding of the red from the waterline. The important thing is that they're all fixable and that it it's only a minor setback. The hull itself is looking great, and it's a credit to you. All the best Patrick

    Hi Nils Exemplary metal work. I find it hard to even file a brass rod, and yet you're able to fashion such a beautiful and complex propellor as if it was second nature! Outstanding stuff! Cheers Patrick
