Here we go off the deep end again
Read a bit about making deadeyes in here. Discussion on face cutting Vs lathe operations helped me immensely.
A comment about how much your time is worth is very wise…unfortunately I and both frugal and stupid
There are 120 deadeyes for the Black Pearl . Their diameter is 6mm I have a 6mm and 9mm plug cutter for use on the drill press
my two plugs. I popped out ten wood plugs in about 15 mins. It is very doable time wise
ok so 6mm plugs, 9mm are way too big. I can easily make the three holes in them in my little jig vise. The wood is from wood scrap exotic bits I have had forever…possibly Osage orange wood. It makes me itch and tickles my throat so
I know it is exotic at least to my immune system. Yes I got the respirator on for cutting.
The real problem is finishing and getting the groove in their centers.
They are impossible to spin on a lathe with off center holes. Will have to figure that out🤔suggestions welcome
With the centre groov I would use a small v shape file and work it around.

Keep it going Scott - excellent work, You really can't go over the top with weathering the Pearl, and the figures.
Scott with the figures if they are the same set I got, I found the plastic to be very soft and almost greasy (like the old Airfix figures) so after triming back the seams a good Primer is key.

Thanks... how did you take the cast of the rearing lion and the unicorn?
I used a few fine files, and gently filed around the upper moulding till I was happy.

Excelent work weathering the decks, they would have been quite bad as legend in the film says she was set on fire then sent down to the sea bed to Davey Jones Locker before being brought up.

This was an IPMS region 11 event. This region includes all of Florida except for a small portion of the panhandle but anyone from anywhere can attend and enter models into the contest. Not sure where all the modelrs came from but I'm sure the club knows as it was required information on the master entry sheet which only the club is privy to.
By the way for what it's worth, I won 2 first place awards with my 1:35 M1240 MRAP and 1:700 Prinz Eugen; 4 second place awards with my 1:35 Shot Kal Gimel (IDF Centurian), 1:24 Tamiya Enzo Ferrari, 1:700 HMS Hood, 1:48 Bristol F.2B; and 2 third place awards with my 1:700 Scharnhorst 1940, and 1:700 IJN Akatsushima Seaplane Tender.
That is Brilliant mate - well done.

So ahead of its time, but I would not have flown in one - its bad enough me needing to travel in the luggage compartment (lol) When I have flown I have had to have an isle seat as I suffer from a fear of heights and vertigo, so looking out of a window in a plane is a Big No no.

Continuing along on the hand rails made from styrene stock 3/4 rounds and small round styrene rod
It then dawns on me that there are only half enough stair treads on the staircase, so I add five more threads on both sides
Just some tan primer and curving the bottom a bit with some excess to do the turn into the end baluster and finale
Thats a great save on the treads - I had to do the same, and with the hand rail bending it at the ends where it terminates with the columbs.

Thank you for your comment Mr OC. Yes indeed I believe the Revell and the Vzezda kit are identical save the box art
I certainly have looked at your amazing build and read it through, made references and got some great pointers
Very much appreciate you looking at my build and as I said, I stand on the shoulders of giants…one of those is yourself and your great build
Thank you for you very kind words Scott, any help I can give - just shout me.

Hi Scott, Excellent start on the Pearl, I built her a few years back (The Revell kit) that I think is basically the same kit as yours, I did quite a few alterations to enhance her and make her more solid like putting wood dowels inside the masts to give them some strength, and making the spars from wood dowels also, as the plastic ones will bend under rigging strain.
I also replaced the plastic rat lines for thread, and added thread for the gun lid lowering devices.
I posted my build in here check it out if you need and pointers -

Another Black Pearl build thrown into the ring🙄
I know there are quite a few and I have read the posts I could find. I stand on the shoulder of giants as the saying goes as I get the benefit of seeing others make these kits. This is my first ship build and I am a newby here so I appreciate any help and direction. Apologies if my ship anatomy is incorrect.
I have started the kit pre Covid and then stopped.
so here we goWelcome to the Pirates world "Me Hearty" I too built her the Revell version and added a crew of naughty pirates.

I'm sorry to hear this. Bad teeth are not fun. Like Harry suggested, check out if there's any over the counter type of antibiotics. I've heard you folks in the UK have that option unlike us in the States who need a prescription from a doctor.
Same situation over here Mark, antibiotics need a doctors prescription for them, but we have an online form we can fill ill where the doctor arranges a prescription to be collected/deliverd to the house by our chemist.

That's a bare minimum of treatment. Sorry to read of your travails, OC.
Thank you kindly Ken, I am rinsing several times a day/night (as its keeping me up) with warm salt water washes and the same with mouth washes for gum problems, a nd dosed up on parecetamol and Ibupfrofen, currently trying to get some anti biotics from my doctor but they wont prescribe them for dental things - so have to say their for something else.
Its amazing I have broken bones but pain in the mouth really knocks.

I feel for you brother, we don't have a national health service here in this country, but the dentists don't accept medicare or any real medical insurance either...
Modern medical insurance is so backwards in todays world it's incredible.... Hang in there the answer will appear...
We will still be here....
Indeed brother, there used to be more dentists over here that used to do NHS work, but vary rare now.
