Morning all, sorry this build has slowed down - life sure has a way og getting in the way of our hobbies (that keep us sain) I have struggled with my teeth all my life based from my fear of dentists, and boy have I suffered due to it, at the moment I have a few very painful absecess's giving me real grief - that kind of pain and throbbing where you feel your heart beat through the pain. Trouble is over here there are very few dentists who will treat you through the Free NHS service, so I am having to self heal myself.
I want to try to take my mind of the pain with my modeling but its so destracting.
I will be back you can guarantee that.

It’s interesting to me the way this hobby has progressed. Seems like not too long ago, a cottage industry appeared where someone would create a master part to upgrade an existing kit, then fashion a limited run mold to manufacture replacement parts from cast metal or resin. Later on, the molds improved significantly and resin upgrade parts got a whole lot better, those first ones being pretty crude sometimes. Today it’s a new ballgame. These resin upgrades are drawn in 3D cad then printed out using 3D resin printers giving just an incredible level of detail, practically flawless. I plan to build the kit supplied plastic seats just to compare them to these 3D printed resin ones. Very fine details are visible in the replacement seats.
They look neat - so much fine detail.

Hi all,
not great progresses to show, but many small parts that need some preparation. Finally, I completed gluing the plates on the tail, only one remaining, but that will go once the fuselage is closed.
Interiors received some colors (XF-71 interior green and XF-69 NATO black):
Pedals made by folded PE and black wash applied:
As said, not much to show. However, I finished another model I was working on and OC showed some interest in it, so, if you don't mind, I would like to propose few pictures of it. The subject is the small Italian tactical jet Fiat G.91 R and the kit is the very old Italeri/ESCI kit in 1:48 scale. This is a moody picture of it quickly taken on the sill of my window in a rainy day:
The kit was with raised panels and I rescribed the entire airframe. I addition, I made numerous modifications to some incorrect features (but I did not corrected all of them).
With a blue background showing the nice lines of this aircraft typical design of the early '60s. By the way, the colors used for the early NATO camouflage are exactly the same ones that I am going to use on my Tempest:
I hope you like my model. Now I will continue full time on my Tempest.
Best regards,
Dan
That G91 looks Superb.

Hi Craig, yeah Airfix only provide Humbrol Colour numbers, simply because they are the same company (both brands belong to Hornby Plc now). So you can see why they promote their own paints, but as Andy says there are plenty of conversion www sites out there that compare the wider international brands and standards like FS etc.
I am slowly moving over to the Colourcoats range by Sovereign Paints as the quality of their enamels and colour accuracy is much better than Humbrol imho. I received my batch of Dark Sea grey this week from them. 😁
Wasn't the Humrol/Airfix factory in Hull?

One of the most distinctive British jet ever, yes of course I will follow. It is one of the kit that I would like to have.
By the way, I am late, but I would also like to congratulate for your neat Sea Harrier and the family portraits.
Cheers,
Dan
You should also have a go at building it Dan - its supposed to be an excellent kit.
