  1. I remember seeing some builders in the forum Blackening canons and things. OC.
  2. Place the chain then paint the damn thing Harry - its what my attaitude would be - treat it in place and do some paint shades and washes over it - Im sure it would behave - just needs a bit of time but atleast you would be able to work on it rather than waiting for stuff to arrive. Hey I can talk - look at my figure painting... OC.
  3. I thought you could get dedicated products to Blacken metal products - seen it mentioned in many of the wood ship builds in here (just dont know which one) many have even Blackened whole canons etc. @mtaylorAny ideas mate? OC.
  4. Evening all, some more progress today - I put a couple of coats of Black on the doors ten set them aside to dry, then I returned to my Two Cuirassiers finishing off their painting - just needs a wash and dusting. OC.
  5. Found another interesting link for you - think they do tours there? Also found some figures they are 1/150 scale but that is kind of close to 1/200 - OC. https://castletourist.com/castillo-de-loarre/ https://www.pendraken.co.uk/mid-european-557-c.asp
  6. Thats some great progress Alan - taking shape more and more each day, and those Verlinden goodies - will look forward to you building those. OC.
  7. Thank you kindly Alan, they wont look too bad with some Black paint on them and weathered. OC.
  8. Evening all, I have started the orchard doors - I started off by sizing them up then I sat Two pieces of paper together then after marking the size - I cut through both pieces with my blade, next I squared up some thin wood stock and worked out the correct width and trimed away with my blade, a little sand then both edges where cut to length along with the top rail, I then fitted them on the paper square with the edges. I then I cut some paper strips for the planks on the long runs, these where cut the same width then glued down with a slight gap, next was the cross support planks - again these where cut to size and glued on. The bottoms where trimmed on the one door - still needs doing to the other. OC.
  9. Thats a good start Alan - those blocks make all the difference creating a genine look, so loving this build. OC.
  10. That looks so good - the different sizes of Ice makes it look so realistic. OC.
  11. Evening all, more progress with the Cuirassiers adding some colour. OC.
  12. This would look so superb as part of a dio with horses and some figures. OC.
  13. I think they leave it up to the builder how its done - build up the stones to where the earth works(grass) would be or build up the earth works first and assemble the stone blocks up to it - might be best to do the stones first and make the earth works just cover them as you want. OC.
