  2. good evening everyone some of you are aware i have restarted my Amerigo Vespucci. by Panart/Mantua, which had been on the shelf of doom for many years and although not copying, i am trying to make it better with some better aftermarket fittings this is my got o log for this build Amerigo Vespucci by schiffebastler - Mantua - scale 1:84 - Italien sail training ship build 1931 - - Kit build logs for subjects built from 1901 - Present Day - Model Ship World™ with 27 sails, i think i will need in excess of 400 blocks of various sizes, where do i source decent ones from in the UK, the one i have are pretty poor to say the least will be a good month or so away from needing them, but obtaining them will take my mind of my next project lol

  4. i noticed a post on facebook that they were loosing a member of staff due to job change, maybe that has affected the flow of things
  5. good evening everyone i redid the derrick mast, 40mm to long was something that was going to look a bit stoopid, one on the right is the correct length the funnel has been stripped back of colour the stern railings are now in position, although the capping has still to be sanded down the stern lifeboat davits have also been made up and inplace but not fixed

  8. did you use Cornwall Model Boats, they are taking slightly longer to despatch at present, a week between ordering and posting
  9. spent £700, build the hull, and throw the rest away
  10. funny that i was fitting deadeyes to my Victory this day 8 years ago (according to facebook)
  11. sorry i should of added, in the slot within the channel where the deadeye sits, a small hole is drilled which the two pins are squeezed together in put in that hole, saves soldering and i never once had a pull out problem
  12. They help secure the deadeye in the channel
  13. spent the day on the derrick mast, made a fantastic job on it, paint looked great, solder work tidy, fitted the navigation lights all winch gear and siren went to fit the ladder, to short, look for another, there isnt another, look at plans 170mm mine is 170mm, checked it all again checked instructions, for what there worth, 170mm minus 40mm Dam quess what im doing tomorrow
  14. personally, i would removes the channel edging, and redo the deadeyes with a stiffer wire or go down the route of putting the Caldercraft fittings in place as they stop movement within the channel i beleive this to be one of your phots Dave, nice build
  15. like this in different sizes
  16. could you try a apply a solder joint in situ, other than that it might mean redoing them, But in the Caldercraft Victory the deadeye fitted into a formed ring that attached to the hull
  17. well i hadnt until about 2 years ago at the Warwick model show they are a UK company that supplies 1/96 ferry kits to fulfil a gap in the market for that type of vessel the Norland was used in the Falkland's conflict, her and sister ship norstar were later stretched by 18m the stretched norland/Norstar will most likely be my next build, after the Amerigo is completed, or put back into storage, thought someone out there might be interested, i am in contact with two builders, but no build logs exist, other than the companys development thread on another forum Linkspan Models
  18. good morning everyone thank you for comments and likes well the forward wheel house is finished for now, im happy with the way she turned out, thats most of the big stuff done, a ton of smaller tuff to remake, scratch, find or repair
  19. good evening everyone thank you for comments and likes the forward wheel house is still getting attention, having learnt to solder on the bluebell build it has paid dividends on the brass canopy the raft for the midships boats have been made up, still to be painted
  20. its a lovely build but to small a scale for me, and i dont want a 1/72 carrier, although i have looked at 1/96 from Sirmar many times
