  1. Hello Christian, With just one or two drawn with all the arcs and its centers I will understand how you did it or how you work. I use Autocad 2011 as well but I use the spilines for everything (or almost). I copy the scanned body plan with splines and then I start the water lines. I think I´ll start a new log of the 74 I´m drawing... at least only the drafting - drawing. If I have not started it yet is because I am jumping from one part of the ship to another. Right now I am with the aft cant frames. So I´ll tidy up a little bit the draft and I´ll start to post the progress on a new log. Cheers, Daniel.
  2. Hello Christian! The plan looks goo to me. You might need another diagonal for the aft frames but it´s up to you if you need it or not. Did you draw the original diagonals or you just drawn them taking the points of each futtock on the sheer plan? And another one or two, Do you have the plans scanned and you use them as a pattern on CAD or you have "paper" and you have to be taking meassures? If you are using spilines to make the body plan, how you get to that weird bodyplan with all those parallel lines to the top of the keel? Did you just copy them from the original plan or are actually the center to make the different frames? I would like to know because I have never understood how the shipwrights could get to that. I mean how the hek you find the centers for these sweep lines! Beatiful draft! I´ll copy your info box. Daniel.
  3. Congratulations Jürgen! Did you re-draw all the frames or just the main frames? Daniel.
  4. Hi chuck! Thanks very much for the pics about your laser cut machine and for the walk around your basement... trully a cave, a big one, should say. Mine is about 3x2m2... That made me smile. Even my 6 square meters are as messy as yours. Tidy tidy tidy guess we are always tiding up our small or big shop. Ain´t no need to be embarrassed. Good luck and happy modelling! Daniel.
  5. Now!! That´s what I call a shortcut between last post on 18th April till now Albert!! And your workshop explain lots of previous pics with not a spot without dust and chips at all... looks like a surgery room to me. (I envy that) I try and try but the second day my shop is a mess... Any pics of the process? I mean from April till now. Daniel.
  6. I do not know which dingy look more risky if the US one or the one your father used... One thing is sure the rubber US boat can fit much more sailors than the wooden make boat and they could have more than one. Did the Ductch subs have rubber boats as well? Is there any reason to have such a wooden boat aboard? Cold water, ice, rocks...?! Happy journey! Daniel.
  7. Is this book? I saw it on Amazon... The "Mary Rose": Your Noblest Shippe: Anatomy of a Tudor Warship2 Used from £984.37 Sure you have done the best investment for 50 quid!! Looking forward to your cross-section . There is not so many from that period around... Best wishes! Daniel.
  8. Same scale as the O19? Would be beautiful with all that rigging and functional cranes. I have count seven. The only problem is that you might buy a bigger blue bucket to paint it on the backyard... Happy weekend! Daniel.
  9. Excellent cabrapente! What kind of wood do you use to make the furniture and those decorations? Happy autum ahead! Daniel.
  10. Good luck! The ladder looks good to me! Someone could say is from a photoetched metal sheet but not it is not. Was it removable in real or was soldered to the sub? Cheers! Daniel.
  11. Congratulations Mark! Defenetly version two looks better than V.1.0. That "1-23c.jpg" looks sharp and true... Best wishes and happy modelling! Daniel.
  12. Very interesting indeed and beautiful posts... The Basque is a state in the north of Spain, close to France like "Sardinia" is a island from Italy. You could add a human figurehead like the one I have attached. It´s the figurehead of 74 that never was built or at least I have not seen in tens of books that I´ve read. He is holding an olive branch. In fact the name of the ship is Prince of the Peace. Good luck! Daniel. P.S. If you want a higher definition shot just PM me and I´ll send it to you.
  13. Hello Piet! I thought you and your O19 was almost done or done... But not it does not! When are you going to stop deteiling her?? It´s amazing the amount of detail and the sizes you deal with, really admirable. I still remember the discusion about putting or not the rivets and bolts on every single iron plate (hard paper). Way to go Piet! From the "future builds" you have at the bottom of your log, which one is going to be the first? Happy modelling. Daniel.
  14. Paul! we miss you! Where are you?? Hope everything it´s fine and see you and your Scharnhorst soon... Best wishes, Daniel.
  15. Hello Juergen, I guess it could be but the probrem is that the pine wood piece I have been using for all the gun ports simply do not fit on that way. I´ve seen other models and they just put it with that angle. Indeed on the sheer plan you can see the bevel on the frame and is more or less on the half of forest single frame. On my case and with that bevel I saw no necesity of cutting a long ceiling piece to conform the gunport and I decided not to "weak" the frame more than necesary. Hope it helps. How does it work this first gunport on Leopard? Is it the same? Maybe you can "extrapolate" it to the hMS Triton. Keep going! Daniel.
  16. Hello Jack, I would not put a name on the stern of the ship. I did not talk about the issue on last post. You could put the type of vessel on a plate or something like "model of the razee type" or something like that. With "XXVIII French 24lb brick" is quite understandable. Don´t really know. Daniel.
  17. Hello All! Thanks Juergen, Beatiful progress you´re making on the Leopard. I progress slower than you. Are you going to drop the HMS Triton or is it temporary "parked"? It´s the only one "as designed", please don´t do it! (leave it) After the big discover about the number of gunports I have decided to leave it there, glue the ceilings and plank the whole area. I was thinking about planking it anyways. I have been all this morning with gunport no.#1 and I´m pretty sattisfied with the result. It is beveled on both frames aft and fore... quite tricky. Here are the pics! I know there is a lot of them for a single detail but it took me a while and as I said it´s tricky and the plans don´t show it in its complexity. The next days I will sand the wale and paint it. I´ll make some trials with srap wood first, we´ll see... Daniel.
  18. Hey Juergen! Hello!! Sorry about all the "likes" but it was me... nothing wrong with MSW 2.0! I just went from page one from 4th of may through all the log. Don´t know why I was missing your new log. Anyway the follow button has been clicked so I´ll be here waiting for your updates. Best wishes and happy modelling! Daniel.
  19. Yes indeed, BUT there is something spectacular on shots like "02" and "05" (specially the "scafolding" holding the ship). I wouldn´t mind to go that way. Specially with that dummy piece of wood which is more evidence on pic "04". Were this model intended to be on a shelve on the Admiralty rooms or were made to show the cadets or the man of war how these ships actually function? Here for example, I do not know how many times I have posted this shot but in my oppion It´s the "ultimate" extreme of what a POF model should be. (I know yours It´s a POB one) I am now much concern about plank on frames models but I´ll probably shift to pob´s on my next project. Good luck Jack, and thanks for the research photos! Daniel.
  20. The "Follow" button pressed! I´ll be here aswel learning... Any pics of that laser cut machine. I am very interested on seeing it working. I mean the process. What software you use etc.. Best wishes! Daniel.
  21. Hello Hello! The gunports are almost completed. Two more to go one on the aft and another on the fore... I managed myself to build a shelf for the ship. My workshop is quite small and it´s a way of having the ship always tidy and my table clean to work with other things plus more room for the machines. I was looking the plans and counting the gunports... and I was counting fourteen on the ship and thirdteen on the plans...Of course I thought to myself the plans were wrong not My Triton. 13 vs 14teen, 13, 14, 14, 13... And the plans ARE RIGHT!! I have had tue gunport cut since post #170 18th June. No small mistakes here in this hobby. Remember! Thirdteen gun ports!! Here´s a bunh of pics... You can see obiously there´s is something odd with the gunport but I just thought... I do not know what I thought, I was having fun cutting the scarfs and the ceilings. Back to cut with the scroll saw. Best wishes! Daniel.
  22. Please Marsalv explain it !! 0.55mm is far far away from what I have got from my drawplate! Excellent work! Daniel.
