  1. Hello Ray! I asked the same question on my log but I received no answer at all... Looks like we all think somehow the same way about the main hold... What about to have a look to the "Jeronimo´s Bonhomme". Different type of ship but her hold is amazing. Could "inspired" you... http://modelshipworld.com/index.php?/topic/300-le-bonhomme-richard-by-jeronimo/page-22 Good Work Ray! Daniel.
  2. Hello Rusty! Way to go! Can I ask you how did you glue the stem-keel to the set of falsekeel-bulkheads? Did you bolt them together? Best wishes! Daniel.
  3. Good morning Mike! It´s amazing what a beautiful things can one achieve with good plans and ofcourse great modelling skill. I specially like the thick stuff. It looks really "thick" and symetrical. Great work! Keep going! Daniel.
  4. Hello Ed! I thought that Part-48 Startboard Ceiling Treenailing and Bolting was going to be all... I mean no "strapping" on the portside but just the deck clamps but No! Sure It is a milestone of work! Always a pleasure to read your posts. Best wishes and happy weekend ahead! Daniel.
  5. Hello Mike! That stern looks pretty sturdy... What´s the thickness of the main stern posts? I am at this same point on my Triton and I am worry about how to "strength" more this part of the ship. Happy modelling! Daniel.
  6. Hello Ray! I do not know to say "well done" or go to say "CONGRATULATIONS"... As joe said Nice and Clean. Keep going! Daniel.
  7. Hello Mike! Even dry fitted on the keel plus the rising wood and that "ribband method" the whole set look fair and true. On my next project I´ll do it that way. Rising wood and the ribband... No jigs with iron bolts and sewers. Are you going to fill the space between the frames to make the water go to the limber? Beautyful work! Daniel.
  8. What an enourmous 3D puzzle!!. Every single piece is a master piece. You "follow" your signature word by word... Brilliant. Daniel.
  9. Hello Piet! I would sign that on a paper if I am able to get your age with those fantastic hands!! (and eyes I guess). I am in the 40´s, I use specs and my hands start to shake...I have to help one hand with the other. Of course I do not have to deal with point five diameter brass tubes... My best wishes Piet. Daniel.
  10. Pretty "fatty" Mike! Quite different from the ships I use to see arround... Was she design to low draught waters? and another, Are you going to bolt together the frames? Happy modelling! daniel.
  11. Hello Mike! I have seen some pics on google and looks like a beatiful ship to build. Good luck with her. Can I ask you where did you buy that red small and tiny level? Inet?... Best wishes! Daniel.
  12. Hello Ray, the question should be "what the heck he is NOT doing?" You´re about to get the speed world record building the Cross Section!! Your tenacious is amazing. Good luck with the hanging knees... Daniel.

  14. Hello all! Lot of work and no modelling... And the kid with scarlet fever! Five days ahead with him around... imagine! I have spent the whole day drawing the well where the pumb boxes will go. The pdf is on post #122 on page #9. Happy Days! Daniel. Info for me. edit post @121.
  15. Sorry guys about the thing about the magazine... Since the Triton has only just one I thougt that that one was pretty small (excellent built it anyway) Amazing the amount of info one learn in a day with you around... Keep going! Daniel.
  16. Congratulations Mark! Beatiful work! Any pics of that F-14? Is it on another forum? I have upstairs 4 of them, 2 F-18 and a Viking waiting to be build... Happy modelling! Daniel.
  17. Incroyable Ed! (as always)... But, I have a silly question,,, How you marked the pencil lines for the strapping? To mark a line on a plain surface looks "easy" but to do it inside the hull with curves in two directions seams a titanic work to do. Any trick for that? A flexible plastic rule or what? Those iron straps remind me the way Seppings or Symonds (do not remember) used to reinforce the hull with diagonal and massive pieces of timber. Best wishes! Daniel.
  18. Sure we do Gary! Not so many 74´s around to be astonished watching them under construction...Beatiful stern post. Best wishes and happy modelling on March! Daniel.
  19. Guy... I drawed that one... Hope it has help you. Randall, those patterns are to set them on your tilt table of the disc sander. Have a look on the last post of Guy. It explain very well the process. To be honest on the stem cant frames I just tilted the table to the angle refered on the plans, sand a stick 15x15mm of pine first at that angle, put it against the deadwood and see if it was correct and if so, sanded the frame working as Guy,,, slooowly. I marked with pencil where the direction of the sanding were to go. TRY WITH SCRAP PIECES FIRST. Good luck!
  20. :D :D !!! I doubt it Guy. With that ribband method and the squares to set the fore cant frames you are saving lots of time... I "spent" lot of time building the stern and stem jigs. On next projects I will go your way, a base board and lots of square sets. what is the other building you are working on?! Best wishes Guy! daniel.
  21. Hello Piet! That picture of her looking forward directly into the stern it´s absolutely beatiful. And Yes, I did not realize the size of her till I have seen you holding her with your hands... (It also happens to me on models made on 1:24. You are going to need a big case to put it in... Keep going and my best wishes. Daniel.
  22. Hello All! Guy, It´s been almost a month of no work on the Triton and I miss her... . I think the clue It´s to at least dedicate 1 hour a day every single week. By doing this is amazing how it grows... piece by piece. happy modelling for all of you that can work on her! daniel.
