  1. I think the humidity is the problem, this as I have noticed my Bluenose hull is doing the same in my garage. Unfortunate I believe this is a common problem we all have. A humidity around 45% is what I think good for static models. But I can be wrong.
  2. Tinkercad is a simple version of Fusion360, but both are free to be used by hobbyist.
  3. Mati, That is beautiful rigging, almost a shame to "set sail" to hide all the lines. But with this outstanding rigging I guess the sail will look amazing as well.
  4. Amalio, that is just amazing. How did you create the brick work? Was that part of the kit or something you created yourself?
  5. Jonathan, your San Felipe looks great. As there are quite a few of these here at MSW your ship along others will be a tremendous help for to finish the gifted kit I have.
  6. Ian, You some good questions, but for Fusion360 I would recommend to go to GrabCad.com where you can find ServoCity items ready for Fusion360. Hope that will be to some help. Here is youtube regarding STEP and Fusion360.
  7. Warm Welcome to MSW, we have many members from our area.
  8. IR3, That's a very beautiful model and you sure have made justice to her. Besides, if it hasn't been mentioned these kits does not have any white metal. Only brass and aluminium.
  9. Keith, what did you do to Boris? He looks so tired and also in desperate need of affection. This information was great as I have Confederacy waiting in line.
  10. One of the reason I am a member of NRG to get accurate information regarding ship models and ship history. Thank you Toni and team for making a great magazine.
  11. Ben, Warm welcome to MSW.... very nice start and recovery of the issue you ran into. When it comes to Billings and their kits, the instructions may not be the best - sometimes I think IKEAs' instructions are better....😁
  12. Hi Joseph and welcome to MSW. You are off with a great start with the schooner. It's looking good, I know you have attached the second layer of planking, so I wonder "Did you file down the nail heads in order to get a smooth surface for the second layer"? I filed down the heads when I build the hull of Constructos America 1851, that after all the glue had set. Besides I didn't get a second set of planking. Looking forward to see the outcome. Never hesitate to ask questions - that's why we are here!
  13. Hi Ronco Valerio, First I like to welcome you to ModelShipWorld, a great forum to questions answered. I did a quick search and found an Italian website, which shows the correct Constructo number and a price. I have a hard time to determine whether this kit is available. I wish you all the best luck.
  14. May I chime in? Here's my take on airbrushing - it's very well worth getting the skills involved, at the end it boils down to quality of "brush-gun" and quality of paint. I work exclusively with the Vallejo brand (not saying it's the best or worst), it's a brand I am comfortable with. Using their regular brush paint and getting a nice coating requires again good quality of brushes and patience. My conclusion: investing in a double tank compressor and high quality "brushes" are all worth it. Here is my comparison of my compressors and go to posting 2813.
  15. Great tutorial of how to use Fusion360 and ship drafting for 3d printing. Always eager to learn more from a user who knows how to use the program. Ps. Here is a link to download Fusion360 It's free for hobby use.
  16. That's a nice setting for the ship. Looks like there very little left to do.
  17. Hi Drummer1061 warm I see you are a drummer as well as a ship-modeler.
  18. I totally agree regarding sail making. The provided material for sail in kits in general are not good at all.
  19. Since you are at the machining stage, make another set and send me....... just kidding. That looks awesome! I have to stick with the in-kit part.
  20. Tim, As for being a lower located western Washingtonian I greet you warmly to our forum. Glad to read you have some ships in your yard to be built. I do recommend to step up from the AL brand, once your are done. Please look into our "in-house-designers"..... as they provide high quality products not to be found anywhere else.
  21. Ace hardware, Lowes, Home Depot or go to Midwest Products directly as this where the first three companies are getting theirs from.
  22. Hi Joe, I just paid attention to your website. Great information. I bid you luck on your new venture, even though it sounds like you have been doing this for a good time. I know you will be busy with orders coming in. Are you to create wood packages for some of Chucks designs? I.e Syren, this as I have noticed mice has had a great time in my box....🤔 Thank you for your service!
