  1. Fusion 360 is another great program for this purpose, can also be used for creating sheet metal (p/e) parts. Haven't tried Blender but have heard a lot of good about the program. Yes, all CAD programs has a learning curve, some are easier in the beginning just to get started but also has a lot of potentials. I am to combine Fusion 360 with Cura for slicing to create the 3d object. My Ender 3 V2 arrived today, which will be a lot of fun to use.
  2. Take a look at this website, specializing with tools for the plastic models. This link will take you directly to the scribers. I have bought items from them and am very pleased.
  3. Tony, I wish I could take that credit but no. Thank you for the compliment. I will forward this to my friend. I have a friend who is very much into dreadnoughts, Autodesk Fusion 360 and 3d printing. He did the work. I am just putting this together. However, since there is no assembly plan to follow I have to plan this very carefully. I am also considering getting my own 3d printer. I have knowledge with Fusion 360 so it "should" be easy to create my own parts in the future.
  4. Nice paint job, but I have a question regarding the waterline, with the scale you are working with, the waterline seems very wide to me - is that a camera angle creating this illusion or is the waterline that wide in real?
  5. Beautiful build and very nice video! You have skills both with building but also video editing. Now here is the question: What is next to be build?
  6. And also sanctioned by AMYA. Nice rank btw, congratulations!
  7. Erik, a warm welcome from WA. I am glad to see another RC sailor here. Sailing has and still is a passion of mine. This as I grew up outside Stockholm Sweden with the amazing archipelago. Architect - interesting, then reading plans won't be any issues for you. Have to look up that RC yacht of yours.
  8. As I mentioned in the "What did you receive today?" I mentioned about a ship I wanted to have in my yard. This ship is a Swedish first class coastal defence ship, with keel laid in 1899 and launched 14 August 1901, one year later she was commissioned. The name is HSwMS Äran ( Swedish for "Honor") Here is the stats of her: Length: 87.5 m (287 ft 1 in) Beam: 15 m (49 ft 3 in) Draught: 5.3 m (17 ft 5 in) Propulsion: Steam triple-expansion, 2 screws, 7,400 shp (5,500 kW) Speed: 17 knots (31 km/h) Crew: 301 Armament: 2 × 210 mm (8.2 in) m/98 6 × 152 mm (6 in) m/98 10 × 57 mm m/89B (plus two 37 mm guns on smaller craft) 4 × 90 cm searchlights m/00 2 × 450 mm torpedo tubes Armor: Side belt 175 mm (7 in) Turrets 125–190 mm (5–7 in) Deck 25 mm (0.98 in) Conning tower 200 mm (8 in) She saw two world wars but did not participate. Decommissioned 16 June 1947 and sold for scrap in 1961. Äran was one of four ships built, the other names was Wasa, Tapperheten (Bravery) and Manligheten ( Masculinity). There are not that many pictures available. I have contacted the Swedish Marine Museum and they have very little information as well. Here is a color picture of Äran steaming through the Swedish archipelago. Now some picture of the build. She has a total length of 4ft. (1:192 scale) She will also be remote controlled - most of the parts are 3d printed. I have some projects ahead of me, learning how to create my own PE parts and other details, not printed. More picture of the parts will follow.
  9. Hi Chris, Your question is kind of odd, "preparing to begin" sounds like you have the kit already and if not. I would suggest you to contact Corel in this matter. Why buy the plans and instruction, if you already have decided on this specific model? Because with the kit you will get the latest plans and instructions. Here is a link to agesofsail for the kit.
  10. I forgot to extend my thanks for a fantastic Calendar. Which I received the other day. Well, this resulted with another order of 5 today.
  11. Rob, if you have plans of how to do certain things, you should stick with it. This is a great idea, card stock is also much more flexible.
  12. Eric, If they were down by half last Saturday, and today probably below 80, I would gestimate somewhere around 500 issues. Just a guess!
  13. Mine should be arriving soon, ordered about a week ago! Thanks for a nice preview of the calendar.
  14. Mike, I went to HobbyTown the other day, and looked into Tamyia models and Trumpeter. My oh my, has Tamyia changed their quality to much better.
  15. I clicked on the link and got the sale pop-up on their website. Calipers of high grade!
  16. Rob, your progress is fantastic. At this scale some details are hard to create, you have done a great job!
  17. Cap'n Snack, Warm . The kit you have chosen seems like a very nice kit including the PE. At 75 dollars and free shipping from Amazon it seems to be a nice deal.
  18. Henke, that is very beautiful coppering work you have done. Doesn't it feel good to be back at the yard?
  19. Daniel, a big and warm welcome to MSW. Having the experience of building plastic kits are very helpful as you already have the eye for details. Building a wooden model is different since there are hardly any pre-made parts. However the choice with Polaris is a great start to give you all needed experience to move on. I am looking forward to your build log. Welcome to MSW!
  20. The Terror is a magnificent ship, I will follow that build along as well. Nice finish of Lady Nelson.
