I'd not really seen anyone on here making the hammocks for the netting-- had a go-- and apart from tidying some twisted up ones very pleased..so I will finish doing them for the final model . I could not find a definitive on how they were stacked so I went for a simple ascetically  pleasing..

This thread shouldn't be eliminated. It should be preserved for posterity. It proves that determination and thought will provide the solution of most any daunting modeling challenge. As they say, "It shows you're thinking!" All to often, someone posts a question, gets the answer, and then argues about why it can't be done that way.

thanks everyone for responses, thumbs up and looking.

Rigging and antennas are ready, after some searching, thinking and studying of various photos, I made the antennas as follows.

Only the rigging for the davits of the auxiliary boats, the gangways and the necessary small details remain.

And then, finally, the flags can be placed.

We are almost there but not quite.

Most recent rebulit was Yamashiro by Aoshima.
Really bad and inaccurate model. Note the turret after the funnel. It points this way because there is not enough space between funnel and aft tower.
Also the upper deck unlike forecastle and rear deck is smooth, without panel lines. Ordering a wooden deck sticker would set me back several weeks so i just painted it gray.
Al least i was satisfied with the sea bed even if i didnt use any special materials.

Yeah, but it's so annoying when you get sticky dried jelly and mustard fingerprints on your shiny copper bottoms!

I once had a large workshop full of tools.   We are now in a basement-less town house, and my workshop is reduced to the dining table and a tool cart.   The positive side is that my shop is soooooo much neater than it ever was before.

Fascinating machine. I'm trying to imagine what it would be like as one of the "hamsters" inside those giant wheels all day long...what a job!

Shotlocker got a reaction from Canute in What’s sharper? X Acto blade or disposal surgical scalpel?
I use no. 11 xacto blades almost exclusively unless the situation requires the curved scalpel blade.
I also resharpen the no. 11's over and over, using fine honing stones, sometimes until the cutting
edge develops a concave shape at which point they don't seem to hold the edge for very long; only
then will I replace the blade. That habit probably stems from growing up with minimal funds for
    hobby supplies when I was a young'un.

A bit more eye candy for the lower cabin...

Some of these are ridiculously small - I was using a hot air drier and blew several away someplace.

"I’ll catch this bird for you, but it ain’t gonna be easy. Bad fish! Not like going down to the pond and chasing bluegills and tommycods. This shark, swallow ya whole. Little shakin’, little tenderizin’, down you go".

Thought I'd have a go at the Greener harpoon gun... until I saw how small it is in 1:20 scale!

I could of course do it with the lid closed, but that would be no fun, right?

Gun length spot, on, but too wide. Varifocal specs can be a pain...

Need to make the twine coils (the made them up to 1200lb breaking strain apparently)... roped up a length from three twists of 8/0 tan fly tying thread.

    Putting the elements together...

Tight fit, but happy with the result. Just needs handle attached, corners and tapes between lid and base.
