Popeye: Thanks! He might not have any crew to command though. I'll just have to wait and wee if there are any more little people hiding in my little bits of wood. :P

Sjors: Maybe I will carve a 'Sjors'  for real...holding cotton balls. :D  :D

Paul: Thanks! 300! I think I would be carving in my sleep! :o  :D  :D

Frank: Thank-you! :D  ;)

Augie: :D  :D

Bill: Thank-you! Not quite in your league of carving accomplishments, but I'm happy with him - good practice for later carvings.

Guy: Thanks for dropping by! :)

Sjors: I'm still here. Thanks for asking! :) Things have been very, very busy here...more health problems. :(
The good news is that my husband and I are going away for a few days to celebrate our anniversary - which is today - 31 happy years together! 3d-yep.gif

The build will be on hold for a little while longer, but I do have the main deck almost planked and will be starting hull planking when I get back home.

Hey Sherry

I'm not sure if you have seen this blog on a fellow in the UK building the San Felipe.

You probably have seen it already but just in case here is the link.

http://sanfelipe1690.blogspot.ca/2003_04_01_archive.html  By-the-way, I linked you to the start of his build. Its nice!

He has been at it since 2003...granted he has had a 2yr renovation of his house and then his first child so I understand the delays! LOL Funny how life gets in the way of our hobbies! sigh!

Cheers

Steve

Morning Casper,

This build log is not moved.

It is scratch build so in the right place.

Or do you mean something else?

Steve,

It's not moved... always been here in the scratch area.  Some call it the Twilight Zone, most of us call it the Darkside.  but here it's been and here it stays. :P

It's been a little while, but I have a small update. I have the main deck partially planked, and will complete after the removal of the bulkhead tops. I've also started the first hull planking. I'm just following the plan instructions for this planking, but will do the final planking as per Chuck's method.

About the NRG

If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.

The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.

The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
